Near to Europa Park, Easy parking on site, cute town with nice bakery and ice cream shop. It was really handy having a washing machine and dryer but the host should be clear that these are within the apartment block and not the apartment itself and that it costs €4 per wash and €2 per tumble dry.

Unfortunately, this was a disappointing stay with several avoidable issues. Before arrival, I asked whether we could check in at 4pm instead of the advertised 6pm, as we were travelling with exhausted children. The host said they would try and asked me to confirm our ETA, which I did. We were told we would receive a message when the apartment was ready, but by 5pm we had heard nothing and our calls and messages went unanswered. When we arrived at 5:20pm, we discovered the apartment had not yet been cleaned. The cleaners arrived shortly afterwards and completed the cleaning in around 25 minutes, suggesting the apartment was only prepared immediately before the advertised 6pm check-in time. While this may have met the official check-in time, it did leave us questioning how thoroughly such a large apartment could be cleaned in such a short time. The self check-in process is also unnecessarily complicated, requiring an app, Bluetooth connection and lengthy instructions with videos. While the hosts have clearly tried to explain it well, a much simpler process would be preferable. The apartment was unbearably hot (around 38°C outside). We asked if a fan could be provided but were told to order one through the guest portal. The estimated delivery date was after our stay had ended, making this completely impractical. As the apartment is on the ground floor next to a pub and a busy road, leaving the windows open all night meant constant noise and didn't feel particularly secure, but we had little choice because of the heat. While no host can control the weather, guests should be able to expect basic amenities that make a stay comfortable, especially during periods of extreme heat. There were also no kitchen knives, and the hand soap and washing-up liquid had been diluted so much they were almost like water, so we had to buy our own.
