Il Mastio di Spedaletto

Everything about the property was amazing! The location is rural, very beautiful and peaceful yet close to many of the hilltop towns we wanted to visit. The castle itself is impressive and well kept. The rooms are large and the bed was very comfortable. Impeccably clean. Toiletries are provided (even a little sewing kit should the need arise). The gardens are stunning and have great sun loungers and beds with plenty of shade for when it’s too hot. The hot tub is great too and there are extra towels provided in your room to use for this so you don’t have to use your bath towels. The breakfast is among the best breakfasts we have ever enjoyed in a hotel. Cristina is a great cook. She makes the best scrambled eggs (all local produce) and the most delicious tomato bruschetta. The variety at breakfast is outstanding. You never get bored of the same things as she provides a great choice of cheese, hams, salmon, fresh salad, fruit, yogurt, cereal, bread and home baked cakes, as well as the egg and bruschetta station. She worked really hard and was very helpful and kind. Although there is no restaurant here, there is one next door (La Locanda del Mulino) that is open during the day until 3:30. We tried it on the final afternoon and we really recommend it. They mill their own grain and make their own pasta, biscuits etc. it is well worth a visit. We stayed in 4 different properties on this trip and this was by far, the best. We wouldn’t hesitate to return and hope to do so again.

Loved the location and the castle. Feels incredibly special. Just walking the grounds you feel in another time. The room was very comfortable.
