The lodge is set in beautiful, lush green surroundings, with plenty of opportunities to spot wildlife.
We missed having a common area where guests could relax and spend some time. The lodge is quite far from the small town, and the last part of the road is in very poor condition. As a result, what should normally be less than a 10-minute drive took us around 30 minutes.

Property is completely into the forest and the wildlife you can hear and live with is something invaluable
Given the fact that the property is in amazing location and very well maintained it is honest to say that you really need a good adaptation spirit for spending some days there. Humidity is very high and there is nothing in the place that help you to fight it. Also the road for going there it’s without asfalt and it’s pretty okay if you drive during a dry day while if you have to drive during the night and while it’s raining it can be tricky. However it allow you to see many animals while you drive there.

Our stay at Wildlife Cahuita Lodge was absolutely amazing and one of the highlights of our trip to Costa Rica. The lodge is beautiful, peaceful, and surrounded by nature right in the middle of a rain forest— you truly feel immersed in the jungle while still being comfortable and relaxed. A special thank you to Fernando (aka Tanos), who is an incredible host. He made our stay unforgettable with his kindness, local knowledge, and genuine hospitality. He goes above and beyond to make guests feel welcome, always ready with great recommendations, stories, and help whenever needed. You can tell he truly cares that everyone has the best experience possible. If you’re looking for an authentic Costa Rican stay close to nature, with warm hospitality and a unique atmosphere, I highly recommend Wildlife Cahuita Lodge — and if you get to meet Tanos, you’re in great hands.

The location was in a lovely park of Cahuita. The breakfast and morning staff were lovely. The gardens , butterflies and flowers were fantastic. The breakfast staff showed us the use the flowers and herbs used in the drinks and food we were eating for breakfast. The chalet size was very good , and shower and toilet rooms very large .
The road to it was long and in very poor condition, we had to drive very slowly for 25 mins to avoid damaging our hire car. We were told we could join the evenings wildlife tour on our night of arrival starting at 18.30 so we stayed in for it to start . It never happened and the organiser advised it was not going ahead due to lack of numbers around 18.30. The lock on the door was unable to be secured because it had no screws to hold it in place , even though the staff member tried to persuade us it was fully safe and secure . It was not fixed during our stay and only needed two small screws to secure it ! The main electric distribution box for the chalet was located in the shower room , having no water ingress protection providing increased risk of electrocution if the water was sprayed in its direction . There was holes in the mosquito netting over our bed and gaps around the windows where mosquitoes could enter . The net was not located in a position to avoid it laying on your our faces when we slept . We slept the opposite way round to avoid it. The nearest restaurant was 20 minutes bumpy drive in a normal car and it closes at 21.00, so go early to eat!
