Bali Beach Eco Villas Pondok Matekap

Beautiful place, friendly host. The meals prepared for us were delicious and they were able to cope very well with one of our party being coeliac and needing everything to be gluten free.

We didn't realise quite how remote the place was but it was in a beautiful setting. There was nowhere to get lunch/dinner within walking distance but Spencer arranged for the cook to prepare meals for us. An option at time of booking to be half or full board would have been a great idea.

We loved our stay at Pondok Matekap. The villa is spacious, beautifully designed and completely private, with the sound of the sea in the background and wonderful sunsets from the terrace. There’s also a natural eco-pool for swimming, which we loved. The pristine beach is just a short walk through the rice fields. Spencer and his family were very welcoming and even helped us organise a lovely trip to a waterfall and lunch overlooking rice fields. Meals served on the terrace were fresh, tasty and beautifully prepared. The staff were friendly, kind and attentive, making everything feel relaxed and effortless. A perfect place to unwind and enjoy real Bali. Highly recommended!

Our stay at the villa was truly amazing. The place is beautifully decorated in Balinese style, surrounded by lush nature, and has a peaceful, eco-friendly atmosphere. The walk to the beach through stunning rice fields was unforgettable, and the sunsets were absolutely breathtaking. Spencer, the owner, was fantastic – always friendly, professional, and ready to help with anything we needed. He even organized extra things for us, making our stay even more special. Everything felt natural and in harmony with the surroundings, from the fresh air to the eco-friendly details. The breakfasts were fresh, healthy, and delicious – the perfect start to each day. It’s the perfect place to relax, enjoy nature, and feel completely taken care of. We would definitely love to return one day.

Everything was perfect

Staying with Spencer and the team has been exceptional to us. The kids loved the pool, we loved the beds, the spacious setup of the villa and the serenity of being surrounded by rice paddies, ocean and nature. We ended up getting ourselves completely pampered by the team, and took advantage of the additional services that were expertly arranged for us by our host: Balinese massages, private drivers, airport pickup, dinner preparation, groceries - we even got a haircut! We cannot recommend this place highly enough, and we are already trying to figure out a way to make a return visit!

Pondok Matekap is off the beaten track in Bali. It is worth the drive there. The views are magical. The short walk to the beach through rice paddies is beautiful. The beaches, empty. We loved the villa's authentic Bali vibe and how it honours the ecosystem around it. The natural pool was a hit with us! The host went the extra step to put birthday flowers out for one of the children! The women who come to clean and cook breakfast are lovely and inconspicuous. This villa is not far from Balian or Medewi beaches which are great for surfing. The "neighbours" (the few people you see between the villa and the beach and the host family) all added delight to our stay.

Just be aware the beach to the left has strong and fast rips. The info in the villa states this but I cannot highlight it enough.

Der Hausherr Spencer mit seinem lokalen balinesischem house-keeping und seinen Tips und Serviceleistungen: Flughafentaxi Organisation, Einkaufs- und Wäschesevice, Frühstück.

ohne Auto schwierig bis unmöglich an den naheliegenden Markt zu Fuss zu kommen, da kein lokaler Taxiservice vorhanden ist, da naheliegende vielbefahrene Strasse keinen Gehsteig hat, nicht beleuchtet und bei Tag als auch bei Nacht sehr gefährlich ist. Zudem mit 2,5km Entfernung zu weit bei 30 Grad zu gehen ist. Damit ist Selbstversorgung autonom nicht möglich. Strand nur bedingt zum Baden geeignet, starke und zum Teil unberechenbare Strömungen. Für Kleinkinder nicht geeignet. 3-4 Stunden Fahrtzeit für 60 km zum Flughafen in den Stosszeiten und Hauptsaison die nahezu ganztägig von 8-20 sind.

Het is een gigantisch huis, 3 badkamers, 3 slaapkamers. Grote woonkamer, luxe keuken met watertap. Buiten een behoorlijk grote tuin waar ie heerlijk kunt spelen en relaxen. In de tuin is ook een zwemvijver. Met 5 minuten wandelen tussen de rijstvelden sta je op het strand. Een prachtige plek voor natuurliefhebbers. Je hoort op de achtergrond de zee ruisen. Heerlijke plek! De service van het team is geweldig. Je wordt volledig om de watten gelegd. Bij ons hadden ze zelfs een prachtige taart geregeld voor onze jarige zoon.
