An excellent breakfast - rare for a hotel
6.0 / 10.0
Location was great, and the history of the village and hotel (linked to Joan of Arc) was really interesting too.
The toilet had no seat, which was uncomfortable. And the shower was not able to be attached to the wall, so made showering difficult.

I write this with hesitation because I don't want this place to become difficult to book in the future for me, but it was such a wonderful experience that my personal selfishness needs to stop where their amazing service begins.
It is in a terrific location in the town. Ample parking, easy to find, located in a very walkable center of town location.
Everyone working there was professional, a little bit spunky and totally authentic. If you want to have a "REAL" French experience this is the place. The restaurant serves lovely food. You can spend a few hours unwinding on the patio with wine, your dinner and dessert. If you are alcohol free or want something else, they have that too. The coffee was perfect.
I booked the last room, and though it was huge and it was only me, they still treated me completely professionally not like "Oh, its only you." The only stressful part of the stay here was that I overslept. Thank God someone knocked on my door at 10 to see if I wanted breakfast! I had an appointment and would have missed it. I DO NOT know the last time I slept this well. I felt so safe. It was so quiet. Everything was clean and welcoming. If you are a single woman traveling alone, I give this place the very best rating I could ever give to ANY place. This is the perfect location for a gentle, quiet, thoughtful stay. Sometimes there is just "something" about a place that makes you feel welcome like no other place. For me, this is it. Merci to everyone there.

The diner and the friendly staff

No breakfast taken. Yes, historic building but I wonder if everything complies with safety standards. The bathroom was a large room with facilities but could have served as a bedroom. Not over-impressed.

Location was ideal and a great place to stay for a break in our journey between Caen and the Dordogne. Our room was perfect and the meal we had in the restaurant was fabulous - great selection, good quality and reasonably priced. We will definitely be staying here again.

Nothing the hotel room are seperste to the restaurant out the back up uneven steps . Room was big but dirty papers under bed. Bathroom walls floor dirty we would have gone somewhere else but had driven 6 hours abd waitran hour for the hotel staff to turn up at 18 00. The bed was comfortable and linen nice.
Everything.

A convenient stopover between the Med and the Channel, but although I hadn’t realised it, it was a very interesting hotel and town to stop as well as potentially a useful centre for the mid Loire area. History of Joan of Arc, who stayed here, and the building has been sensitively converted into a comfortable hotel and restaurant with off-street parking. It may not offer modern luxuries, but all the reasonable facilities are there (en suite, WiFi, etc) and much more interesting than most stopovers. Well worth considering if you want to experience real France
Hotel not open until 6pm. Breakfast 9am, but that suited me, and it was quiet and out-of-season

Do not be deceived by the first impression of the exterior. It looks a little tired BUT the interior is clean and tidy. The rooms are simple but comfortable. The staff were very pleasant and helpful for both the hotel and the restaurant. There is free secure off road parking to the rear. The town was quiet at night meaning I had a good nights sleep. The restaurant was fantastic with some seriously good French food. Book the restaurant in advance to avoid disappointment. I would visit it again.
Nothing to dislike.

A simple hotel which we booked mostly for the reputation of the restaurant, which we found fully justified. Don't be fooled by the appearance of the premises from the outside - it looks like a simple bar so typical of France (nothing wrong with that), but dining in the courtyard at the rear is a wonderful experience in itself, enhanced by the food offered.
The bedroom was basic, perfectly adequate and clean. Don't expect toweling gowns and slippers, do expect a clean, quiet room in which to sleep after an exceptional dinner

Lovely place with their own excellent restaurant. Huge, quiet room. Beautiful old wisteria outside our room. Great location.
Good breakfast including freshly pressed orange juice. B.t.w. Joan of Arc stayed here in 1429.
There wasn't anything we didn't like.

Breakfast was absolutely fine. Location was just right -- centre of town, useful for visiting the area.
Slightly austere bedroom and bathroom -- but comfortable. Six nights stayed, but only three dinners available.
