Riad La Porte des 5 Jardins

Luisa is the one of the kindest and most gracious hosts I’ve ever had the pleasure of meeting. I was overwhelmed with her generosity and desire to be of help in any way possible. Over my time in Marrakesh, I’ve found the Moroccan people to be some of the warmest and most friendly people I’ve come across during my solo travels, and none more so than Luisa. Her breakfasts were traditional Moroccan dishes and I very much enjoyed discussing life and everything else with her; she is a truly superb host. This riad is also ideally situated in the heart of Marrakesh and despite being just a stones throw from the hustle and bustle of the city (I mean literally a step outside the door), it serves as a sort of idyllic paradise where one can escape the heat and chaos. 10/10😇

Nothing really.

Louisa (and her helper Ayesha) were absolutely incredible. We felt like we were staying in a family home from another century. The facilities themselves are beautiful, clean (spotless actually), and incredibly beautiful and taken care of. Louisa took care of our every request and even tho we don’t speak a word of French and she speaks ONLY French we managed to communicate very well via other guests or chat gpt. The pool is excellent to take a cool dip in after a long day. The breakfast is incredible and Louisa asks what you prefer to eat (you can eat by the pool or on the terrace). It is cash only but it is so worth it and Louisa will guide you on where to exchange. Amazing intro to Marrakech way of this lovely Riad on a quiet street next to the amazing chaos of the Medina.

We highly recommend Riad la porte de 5 Jardins. We stayed with Touma for a week and enjoyed the central location. A nice and cozy Riad with a wonderful breakfast on the lovely roof terrace. Touma was extremely helpful and attentive throughout our stay.

The location was superb: close to the Medina, yet not noisy, and close to the taxi drop-off and pick-up, making it great for airport transfers and trips. We liked the roof terrace very much. The breakfast was good and tasty - the same every day - but okay. But the whole Riad smelt of bleach and chlorine, and this was sooooo overpowering. It gave us headaches. The bathroom wash basin leaked, and the basin was too small to wash in. The bathroom generally needs to be upgraded. The bed was very, very hard, but maybe that is usual in Morocco; if so, one must adapt. The cost for a week was also very reasonable. The free wifi worked pretty well, also.

The smell of chlorine. Is the pool for use? We didn't know it was filled with pipes and mops, so it was rather uninviting. The Riad is lovely, but it needs a bit of loving care to make it super!
