Cabañas del Rio

Our room was so well decorated and the bed was massive. Host and Janet were very helpful and provided good advice on things to do at our next stop, how to access park tickets, best places to eat, etc. Lovely views from the bedroom. Breakfast was excellent,

Access road to the property not great. No fridge or tea and coffee making in the room, though drinks were provided whenever re requested a drink.

The hotel was lovely with a great jungle garden out the back that the kids loved. The room was spacious and had three large beds which worked really well for our family. It was very wet when we were due to do our jungle walk but the owner very kindly brought us for a small walk to show cool frogs the following night. The staff were great and breakfast was lovely.

The room itself was slightly more basic than I was expecting. It was very clean so nothing negative but just a little more basic. There was a pile of gravel beside the breakfast area that, if spread out, would have helped the look of that area. I had thought we might be able to walk to town but really the car was necessary which was fine.

The owner went out of his way to make sure everything was great. His guided night walk included several different species of frogs, as well as a bat and some insects. Breakfasts included freshly squeezed juices, fresh fruit, eggs and either pancakes or rice beans.

We could have used a second bathroom for 5 people including a teen granddaughter. We used the two very clean toilets at the pool a few times in the morning to make it work.

We loved our stay at Cabañas del Rio. Well located for everything we wanted to do in the La Fortuna area, easy to drive in and out. The apartments are fairly basic with comfortable beds. The pool was great and the breakfasts lovely, with seating in a covered area next to the garden where you can spot wildlife while you breakfast! Leo and family were so kind and friendly to us and our children, we really enjoyed the night time frog tour too.
