Zagreb Studio Apt No.1

This was a well-furnished apartment located around 1 km from the train station. The apartment was spotlessly clean and spacious. Most importantly, it was bathed in sunlight when I arrived. It had everything I needed, starting from a kitchen, a microwave, to a working desk, a wardrobe, a sound system, an air conditioner, a tv, a dining table, a comfortable bed. There was a small balcony outside my apartment as well, which was common for the three apartments located in this section. The best part was it was absolutely quiet during my stay. There's a tram stop very close to the apartment to reach the main square. Or you could simply walk. The price was reasonable, so I opted for it. The apartment is located on the fifth floor with no elevator which I was well aware of. If you have mobility issues or if it's difficult for you to climb all the way up to the fifth floor, better not choose this apartment.

Mia is a great host and communicated whenever I had any issues. Just one suggestion for her - it's advisable to share photos of the door locks and boxes before arrival to make it more convenient for whoever is booking the apartment. When I arrived, there were a few boxes of the same colour and I got a bit confused. Mia immediately sent me photos to help me out. Two more things I would like to point out - the AC was sometimes leaking. I was out for most of the day during my stay, so it didn't bother me much. If you return to the apartment after sunset, there's usually no light on the staircase except at the very bottom. I had to use my mobile torch to climb up to the fifth floor. Not a complaint, just wanted to make others aware of this.

It felt as if we were staying at a friend's home. There were certainly a few things that could use some renovation, but if we thought of it as a friend's apartment, they were things we could easily accept. Although we did not meet our host, Mia, in person, her hospitality was clearly felt through the thoughtful amenities she had prepared. Since the apartment is on the top floor, the view from the windows was also very nice. For us, who wanted to experience everyday life in Zagreb, this apartment was the perfect choice.

As mentioned in the listing, the apartment is on the 5th floor with no elevator (the 6th floor by Japanese standards). The shower pressure is a little weak, and since there is no shower curtain, the bathroom floor gets wet every time you take a shower. However, considering the price, we didn't think these were major issues. If you're looking for a perfect room with every convenience, Hotel Dubrovnik would probably be a better choice.

The accommodation was very comfy, clean and on a great location. It’s good also for those who work while traveling. There’s plenty of coffee shops, stores and bakeries around. The host was super kind and very responsive. Would totally recommend this place to everyone!

Great location with plenty of nice cafés nearby. Worth noting it's on the 5th floor with no lift, which doubles as your daily cardio, personally I didn't mind it. I'd recommend "ChiaCups Shop & Coffee Bar" for excellent coffee, and you can also pick up some lovely handmade cups there. "Monocycle" is another nearby option, though the service was a bit disorganised during my visit. The small kitchen covers the basics if you feel like cooking, and there's a washing machine with a built-in dryer in a shared area, laundry detergent was even provided.

A few things worth knowing before booking. There's a smoking area directly in front of the flat's window, and cigarette smoke regularly drifted inside whenever other guests smoked, given that there are two other flats in the building, each with multiple guests, this was a recurring issue, especially at night if you want fresh air and don't smoke. Sound insulation is also quite poor, which affects comfort noticeably. The biggest issue for me was the bed: the frame is double-sized, but it has two separate single mattresses that split apart overnight, leaving you in an uncomfortable gap, particularly frustrating if you're taller or broader than average. Replacing these should be a priority.
