Eco Hostal La Perla Tayrona

The host has been incredibly welcoming! Not only she accepted a late check in for us, she even offered to help us book a taxi from the airport and she found one for almost half of the price of what we had seen! We also used the laundry service and it was impeccable!

Good location.

Shower/bathroom layout offers no privacy. Room was full of ants. Pool had no water, was unclean and out of use.

Close to the park. Staff was nice.

Cleanliness was subpar. Found poop in the rooms, lights were not working in shared bathrooms & had a huge roach crawl down my leg while having to take a shower in the dark using my phone light.

Really would like to leave a positive review because the owner was really nice & kind to us but unfortunately I likely wouldn’t stay here again Pros: - location (10-min walk to Tayrona El Zaino entrance, on the side of the road though so be careful) this was very important to us cause we wanted to go to the park very early at opening - bus stops right in front making it easy to get to other places - very affordable price - good WiFi - shared kitchen - no AC but fan works very well - owner and her daughter (or admin?) were helpful and nice

Cons: - room door lock didn’t lock properly/isn’t secure, we tried to ask to change to another room for more security but she said they’re all the same and it’s super safe there. We were fine but as travelers you can never be too comfortable with that - the rooms are not properly sealed so many bugs went into our room, luckily I figured out they were mainly coming from the bottom of the door so I asked for another towel to block it and that seemed to have worked (we are in the jungle so have bug expectations) - the road is loud with many trucks passing even late at night, we’re not sensitive sleepers so we were ok - the shower didn’t have a shower head just a pipe, worked fine for us but it was an adjustment at first - the whole hostal is pretty run down - pools are not usable, common areas are pretty dirty
