Kashikojima Hojoen

部屋からの眺めは大変すばらしかったです。温泉、料理は、期待通りでした。

荷物を自分で部屋まで運ばねばならなかった点は少し残念でした。 夕食は大変美味しかったのですが、配膳が食事の進行より早く、ちょっと急かされている感じだったのは、残念でした。

The location and onset were great. Some staff were a bit impersonal but overall, friendly enough.

It is huge!

全てのレベルが高水準であり、特に夕食のお刺身が秀逸であった。

The view of Ago Bay was quite nice. We booked a larger room for the comfort and that part was OK. The shuttle service to and from the Kintetsu Kashikojima station was very much appreciated.

The hotel was apparently dated. The dinner was all right, nothing spectacular. The breakfast was basic. The real lack of warmth and hospitality that we experienced from other ryokan, say Kumano Bettei, was shown by the front desk staff. We checked out in the morning and went for some sightseeing, leaving our luggage at the hotel. We came back to take the shuttle but we had to wait for a later departure to suit our train schedule. When I asked the front desk if I can get a coffee from the machine (free for guests), the staff (Wyatt, let's call him) refused. That was a first for me, having travelled so much in Japan; although, he kindly allowed us to sit in the lobby while waiting for the shuttle.
