Oak & Hazel, Heath Row Barn

We liked the spaciousness of the flat and it was very comfortable.It was very well equipped. Views of the surrounding countryside were beautiful and it was close to amenities and friends we were visiting.

The flat was generally clean but could have been better. The inside of the fridge and microwave was not clean and neither were the door edges of the dishwasher. We cleaned these ourselves. Windows and frames weren't clean. We were asked to vacuum before we left which we did but we had to empty the vacuum first as the pipe was blocked with dirt. The garden furniture provided could do with a clean and re-staining, we did not use. We definitely left the flat cleaner than when we arrived! Also, we were asked to keep to the client path for walking the dog or the garden area outside the flat and pick up after the dog, none of which was unreasonable , except that both had dog mess everywhere from other dogs and so we chose to walk elsewhere. It would be recommended to have a small lidded bin close by to put doggy bags in prior to using the large Wheely bins on the way out, as these are far too far away from the property to encourage the proper disposal as requested by the host. However, none of this spoilt our stay, it was otherwise peaceful and good for a short stay. Would have been nice to meet our host too.

While tea and coffee were provided, there wasn’t any milk which was odd The TV is much too small I’m happy to strip the bed, empty bins, wash up (I would have done that anyway), but being asked to vacuum the property on departure was a step too far! The oven control is a bit odd. I couldn’t get it to work so had to phone the owner. She clearly knew it was a problem as she said she’d been meaning to alter the Instructions to let people know, but hadn’t.
