Inspiring experience and a nice base for our daytrips.

The Appartment is situarted in a calm neighborhood but very close to the busy historic centers. Bars, Shops, Cafés and Restaurants are all within walking distance. Busstops with frequent bus service are very close. The oak tree Apartment has a well equiped kitchen (good coffee machine!), two double beds, a cofortable couch and direct access to the wunderful courtyard. All upcoming questions and requests where immediately answered by the very friendly host.

The kitchen equipment could be enhanced, for the delight of people who like cooking, as I do ;)

The owner was excellent. Well maintained, great location, cozy, well equipped, and secure. The owner helped us out when our ferry was canceled. He was gracious enough to keep an eye on our luggage while we rebooked our ferry and accommodation.

Parking is hard to find. We learned quickly that heraklion is more of a walking/commuting City rather than a driving one. We returned our car early as we didn't need it. Everything is walking distance.

Beautiful apartments, amazing host!!

First of all, our host (Manos) was exceptional! He deserves 20 stars (not 10!!). He helped me to surprise my wife for our 25th wedding anniversary and was very generous. He was always responsive with any/all questions. The residence itself (we rented 2 apartments) was fantastic, so DO NOT hesitate to book his place. The private courtyard for guests is beautifully decorated with lights , a small table, and chairs, the perfect place for morning coffee. It is very centrally located to several restaurants, coffee shops, and shopping. You can very easily walk to the waterfront for a delightful stroll as well. We only wished we could have stayed at His place for a week! If I could give his apartments 11 stars, I would!

Wonderful, calm and cool in busy Heraklion, amazing host

Wonderful little oasis in the middle of Heraklion. So calm and beautiful while everything is within walking distance. The host, Manos, was the most accommodating and kind I’ve ever had, and even helped us with our airport troubles. I rarely leave reviews but this one was a must for me, it exceeded my expectations by far and it was a great place to call home for a week. Thanks again!

Nice room in a good location.

The room was nice, with a lovely court yard and walking distance to most attractions. Manos was a fantastic host. He provided recommendations to restaurants and attractions and they were spot on. He even bought me a beer when we bumped into him in a restaurant! Thank you Manos.

Lush leafy oasis near the centre of the old town

The Lemon Garden feels really secluded and tranquil - as soon as you enter the courtyard, you're enclosed by the beautiful garden, which is full of fruit trees and vines and quirky touches. Lovely place to sit out and enjoy a coffee. The rooms are traditional and charming and well-equipped. Also, Manos is a fantastic host who really went above and beyond to make us feel welcome. He even paid for our wine when he saw us in a nearby taverna one evening! The location is ideal, too - close to the centre, but on a quiet street away from the crowds.

Very clean, very spacious, very rustic and authentic! A lot of character, a whole lot of soul!! The garden is incredible, the location is perfect, very quiet and very welcoming! The property was beautifully appointed, with all small details like toiletries and many plants and flowers throughout. Beds were comfortable and bedding was lovely. While not right downtown, it was close enough to walk to everything and was quiet and calm at night. The host, Manos, is so kind and helpful with every detail.

A few basic things in the kitchenette like salt and pepper, some olive oil, maybe some tea, would be nice. Also a bit difficult to find - taxi drivers from the airport did not know where it was located.

Lovely large studio room close to city centre but tucked away in a peaceful spot

Lovely newly refurbished large studio room tucked away in a little courtyard (with lemon trees of course!). Lemon garden is within the city walls and a short walk to the busy part of town - so easy to get around, but peaceful at night. Manos was very friendly and welcomed us and also recommended a local restaurant which we enjoyed.

Lovely room in a quiet location

Very nice, clean room, with kitchen facilities and separate bathroom in a lovely quiet part of town. Hotel was very quiet so we also mostly had sole use of the garden.

Room we had was a little cramped and not a lot of natural light - not like the photos. No big deal for us as we were only there for a couple of nights, and because it was quiet we were able to leave our door open.

We loved the garden. It was a great place to sit out & relax. It was easy to get to city center.

We loved that the host left us toast & butter. He left jam also that looked wonderful, but we could not determine if it had been opened prior so we did not eat it.

Charming & friendly accommodation in Heraklion

I chose this accommodation because I liked the old character of the rooms. I think maybe they gave me a “ better” room as it did not have the stone wall character I was looking for BUT it was a very well designed space with a lovely kitchen, 2 small outside sitting spaces plus the sweet public area garden spaces and a beautiful bathroom with lots of hot water and good water pressure. It is very clean & the bed and pillows were very comfortable and in general the room was so very comfortable and we were so weary from travel that I probably was happier with the room I got than I would’ve been with the room I thought I wanted. The owners are on site and very friendly, helpful and offered nice suggestions for our visit. the location is just under 15 minutes to the port and the shops and restaurants in that area but there are nice restaurants nearby.

Apartment had great character and big outdoor space.

Location was good but slightly tricky to find as it's about 15-20 mins walk from the centre of town. Shower was also a bit small but had good pressure.

Great host, good location, nice stay, parking a bit difficult

We liked the location. It isnt central but is in easy walking distance of everything. We liked being able to sit relax and eat / drink.in the garden. Manos was an excellent host. Available and gelpful when needed.

Parking can be a bit difficult. Needed a few times circling around to fins a spot for the hire car on a Saturday evening ... we ended up about 5 minutes fast walk away.

I loved the Lemon Garden!!!

11/10!!!! I stayed at the Lemon Garden for almost 2 months and had a FABULOUS time!! Manos and Family were incredible hosts!! I was very well oriented, the accommodations were comfortable, the garden was lush with plants and of course a blooming lemon tree! Situated in Old Heraklion, there was a very cool vibe, and the town's center was super close to walk to everyday for something nice or new to do. In addition to the well equipped kitchen set up, Manos would bring me extra goodies from his Mom's kitchen like stuffed veggies and a delicious slice of pastitsio to try!! What nice family and town to vacation during the winter!! I made a top ten list: Things I love about Heraklion/Lemon Garden 1) Fresh squeezed orange juice from Manos’s trees for breakfast every morning 2) Fresh squeezed lemon juice for everything else, from the garden outside my window 3) Sleeping very late and drinking coffee in bed 4) Yogurt honey and nuts for breakfast 5) Bluest of skies and temperature between 14 – 22 in February and March 6) Fireplace in the bedroom with lots of wood to burn – marshmallows and hot dogs to roast 7) Short walking distance to the main center square. From many directions. 8) ****Walking the back “roads” alley ways through old Heraklion through the residential areas*** My favorite!! 9) Niko’s butcher shop up the street with the best pork steak and fresh soft cheese. 10) The blue green ocean from the Venetian port.
