The rooms are in the pub yard. It’s a bit noisy in the morning. The window is just in the door and is blurred. For 1-night stay is fine. But if you wish to spend more nights and enjoy a view from the room, it’s better to book another room.

The room was clean and staff were friendly. The location is great for easy access to the town centre and harbour, also just across the road from the Buttlands, handy for taking the dogs for first and last outdoor visit of the day. Service at breakfast was efficient and food was served promptly.

Finding a place to park was difficult, on one occasion we had to park on Polka Road, a 5 minute walk away. Our room was at the front of the pub, and there was quite a lot of noise from delivery vehicles and also from guests sitting outside (we expect that there may be noise when we stay at a pub and with hindsight, should have requested a room at the back). Though our room was clean, communal areas were not up to standard. The landing area can only be described as dirty, with a heavy layer of dust on the lamp; also the cushion on the landing settee was badly stained yet clean towels were placed on this in the morning before room cleaning! The corridor carpet was also stained. We booked a superior double room but it lacked storage space; bedside cabinets only had one small drawer. There was quite a large wardrobe but only 4 hangers provided and the only drawer was full of spare bedding. consequently we didn't unpack our suitcase. I also found the toiletries provided to be very heavily scented, personal taste I know but I disliked it and in any case, strongly scented toiletries are not ideal if a guest intends to wear their own fragrance. We had read that the breakfasts were excellent but in this, we were disappointed. I ordered a fried egg, hash browns and mushrooms one morning and got an egg, two small hash browns and *one* mushroom, the second occasion that I was give one mushroom.
