Felt right at home.

Kitka Hostel is located at the foot of the mountain range. It is in close proximity to restaurants, coffee shops, and trails. Vratnica is incredibly peaceful, and the locals are warm and welcoming. The hostel is clean, warm, and cozy. Dragishe the owner makes custom experiences for you depending on the activities you want to do. If you want to hike, Dragishe will find you a trail guide. If you want to go mushroom or truffel hunting, Dragishe will organize it. If you want to hike or do mountain biking, Dragishe has bikes for you. The hostel is also nice to just sit and talk at with the locals.

A place that truly deserves a mandatory stop.

During my recent motorcycle trip through the Balkans, I had the opportunity to stay here for one night, and the experience with the host and their family was wonderful. They offered me some delicious local food, and we had the chance to talk about the country and the potential for tourism in Macedonia. I highly recommend anyone passing through to stay at least one night with this family. The place is also safe for parking your motorcycle or car if you’re traveling. Thank you for your hospitality, and I hope to return one day.

We absolutely loved our stay at Kitka hostel - our hosts simply could not have been more helpful and lovely. The warmest welcome, amazing home cooked food each morning and evening, a beautiful setting, comfortable rooms, and a great area to explore.

Wonderful hostel…filled with high frequency energy and love

Wonderful hostel! The place is peaceful and beautiful, authentic and it has all you need. The owner is an amazing guy, super friendly and genuine. He welcomed us with open arms and an open heart! 🙏🏽 Also arranging lots of things for us to be able to hike the High Scardus Trail and have accommodations for the next days. The breakfast is very nice and created from home products. It’s very close to the start of the trail…and it has a magical energy. Would definitely recommend this gem 💎 …and hope to be back one day!

Clean and tidy guest house with amazing well-informed host!

Incredibly welcoming hosts! Well informed on the area and activities to do there. The night we arrived he led us to an amazing local restaurant and told us about the village on the way. Amazing breakfast and welcome drinks! Felt very safe and comfortable! We will come back and recommend to friends and family!

What an unexpected delight. A great hostel in the foothills with a lovely host who offered us a welcome drink and chatted to us about his village. He arranged a lift to the local restaurant too. An excellent breakfast too.

Wondeful place and a good gateway into the Sar Mountains

Such a wonderful place!! Where to start? The quiet village of Vratnitsa, where the hostel is located, has a very special vibe. But things become even more special once you go up into the mountains. There are some magnificent trails, starting from the next village, which is walking distance from the hostel. The owner of the hostel is very very accommodating and friendly; he went out of his way to make me feel comfortable in every way, and helped organize my trips. Highly recommend and I will be back to see more of the Sar mountains!

One of the best places I’ve ever stayed at!

This will be one of our favorite places we stayed at, even though we are only on our 2nd day of our two week long trip. Dragisa was the best host and always helpful! He made breakfast every morning, brought us to Ljuboten Mountain hut so we could climb the peak and knows a lot about the area. We also loved that we were invited to a small family dinner with home made specialties from North-Macedonia. Would definitely recommend staying here!

great stop in the mountains

We had a great stay at Kitka Hostel on our first day of our bicycle tour through North Macedonia. The owner is super friendly and outdoor-affine, making the best out of your stay. The breakfast was great and there is a communal kitchen where we cooked our own meals. Exploring the small villages with friendly people around is another great plus!

Hospital, friendly, good value for money

We received a very friendly welcome of our host. It turned out that we had booked a room with 2 single beds (buck beds) but we received a free upgrade to the double bed. We had a great dinner with a stunning view on the surrounding mountains at a 7min walk through the beautiful and peaceful village.

Shower for the double bed room was not on the same floor.

The place was amazing! The host was so nice and helpful. Even when our flight was delayed and we ended up arriving in the middle of the night, we were warmly welcomed. Breakfast was delicious, the view was perfect and the garden was delightful! We are definitely returning!

Essentially perfect!

Absolutely wonderful! Great host, very welcoming, prepared me a nice salad and some rakija to have a very pleasant chat over when I arrived. Breakfast was large and perfect! Beautiful, peaceful town with a great restaurant, bar and market nearby. The hostel is also bicycle friendly, I could keep it with me in the room or there were several other secure options if that matters to you as it does me.

Amazing host welcoming us with warm hospitality. Wonderful scenery and orchid at the hostel yard. Delightful farm animals close to the premises.

Hostel, not hotel

The staff was excellent, very polite and helpful. The room is small, bunk bed, but sufficient. It was cold night, the heater helped a lot. Shared bathrooms were ok. Good breakfast and coffee.

Keep in mind, it is not a hotel, as I thought. Easy to find if you know where to go. We misread one sign and landed high on a hill with no way to return.

Outstanding host

Our stay at Kitka Hostel and the hike to the peak of Mount Liujboten was definitely the highlight our our trip! A huge thank you to Dragosh and his girlfriend who made us feel so very welcome. Dragosh offers a service to drive you up to the mountain hut and down again so the hike can be done in one day. Without him it wouldn't have been possible. Thank you for also showing us your bees, dogs, and horses. The breakfast was delicious. I have never met a hostel owner who is so dedicated and takes this much time to talk and get to know their guests. Hope to see you again some time! Sandro and Julia

Davvero soddisfatto

Posizione tranquilla, c'è un ampio parcheggio. Sembra di essere a casa, Dragiša mi ha accolto come uno di famiglia, con lui puoi parlare di tutto. È un gran lavoratore e un ottimo cuoco: la colazione era abbondante e la cena che ha preparato appositamente per me è stata deliziosa.

Sehr netter und zuvorkommender Betreiber. Wurde rel. günstig am Flughafen abgeholt, Fuhr mich in verschiedene Geschäfte zum Einkaufen. Sehr ausreichendes Frühstück. Kaffee und Tee ad libidum

Perfekte Übernachtung um den High Scardus zu starten

Tolles Hostel under der Gastgeber ist super nett und hilfsbereit. Super Einstieg für den High Scardus trail, man kann direkt vom Haus loslaufen und bekommt auch noch einige Tipps. Gutes Frühstück und auf Anfrage eine grosse Portion Abendessen.
