Please note I am reviewing the owners next door property as they kindly offered us a swap pre-visit, but if this one is anything to go by...and of course the comments about the location, communication etc remain valid. A very lovely, clean and spacious apartment. It had everything we needed to make our stay comfortable, with lots of extra little touches. Great wi-fi and TV. Everything was easy to use/find/understand. The owner was lovely, and very easy to communicate with. The location was perfect, very central but peaceful on a night. The parking disc arrangement was not a problem for us as we were out every day before10am and until 4pm. Then we could park all night right outside the apartment with no issues. And we loved all the references to the good old British Post Office.
I always spend a long time researching where to stay before we book so I was a little bit concerned the property might not tick all our boxes when I accepted the kind offer of the swap by the owner. But I had no reason to be, the apartment was so delightful and charming

We were offered a free upgrade to a larger apartment and feel truly spoiled. I have no doubts the smaller apartment would have been anything but perfect too. The larger apartment was huge for just the 2 of us but it has given us the idea of coming back in the summer with family. The location is perfect on the main street, we worked out the parking so we could park up and explore. Easy reach to other locations too, we visited Bamburgh castle and it was lovely to not have to drive far to get there.
The larger property is such a high standard, its bigger than our house! The bathroom is really high spec and beds really comfortable. It made for a lovely mini break.
If you end up in the larger property just be mindful of the stairs near the small toilet as theres a dip in the middle of the top stair as you are coming down and I slipped and fell. It is carpeted but I wouldnt want people hurting themselves too. Dont let this put you off though the apartment is exceptional.

The location is excellent, right in the middle of Alnwick within easy walking distance all over. A very good restaurant, Adam & Eve, just a five minute walk away was excellent.
I am guessing there are not many guests during the winter months. The apartment was freezing when we arrived - a little tip to the owners: if guests are arriving in the winter months it would be a good idea to turn the heating on to warm the apartment before their arrival. Sadly, there were no instructions on how to operate the heaters but after some trial and error we managed, only to have them turn off after 30 minutes to an hour. Also, the information pack had instructions for two WiFi networks, neither of which were the one to use. A phone call to the owner solved the problem but it would be handy if the information in the welcome basket was up to date. Otherwise, the apartment was "fine", clean and tidy and comfortable.
