Lovely traditional property with nice modern elements. Amazing staff.

Staff were amazing and friendly, tasty breakfast each day. Nice pool. Mosquito nets on beds was great. Did a snorkelling trip and had an amazing time. Able to get a great massage at the accom. Very walkable to mushroom beach.

No conditioner in showers - very minor issue.

Very quiet, comfy rooms and appreciate the mosquito curtains around the bed, very helpful for with anything you needed, pool was lovely

Nice bungalow

The bungalow is very nice, surrounded by lots of nature, the bed is comfortable and there is enough space. Also the staff was really kind!

Breakfast is very limited, just one plate of food (fruit, eggs, or pancakes) and one drink per person, whereas in other accommodations, fruit or juice is usually included in addition to the main breakfast. We never received hand towels; I don't know if they don't use them or they forgot to give them to us. Many times, when we tried to ask at reception, no one was there.

Friendly host

The room and facilities were not satisfactory. The air con in the room did not work and there was a strong smell in the bathroom. The pool water was visibly dirty. We did not stay here and checked out immediately. Disappointing that we were not given a refund.

Good place

The pool was nice, the rooms were clean but the bedding and towels quite damp. The restaurant was good and the staff friendly and helpful. The scooters we hired were a bit old with limited braking ability and steering a little dodgy. Also they were not able to provide enough helmets or helmets that did up. The location was nice and peaceful away from busy areas but the access is bumpy and muddy if it rains so be prepared for a fun ride.

Great value for money and amazing staff!

The staff was amazing, so helpful and lovely! The beds are super comfortable and the rooms are sparkling clean! The pool is lovely and albeit not central, the location of the hotel is great. 5 min walk to Sandy Bay, Dream Beach and 20 min walk to Mushroom Bay. If you ride a scooter, it's also super easy to get around the island :)

It would be great if the hotel was non-smoking, the smell of cigarette kept us up at night, but this has nothing to do with the hotel of the staff, more inconsiderate guests smoking on their balcony...

Hidden gem!! Love this spot!

This place is a hidden gem! From the street you enter what feels like a different place altogether! The gardens are well kept and the villas are close together but feel so secluded at the same time. The pool is phenomenal. The staff are so accommodating and friendly. Tidy bathrooms with really nice toilets. My only complaint was that getting to a mini mart was a bit of a struggle. There is warungs close by though that had stuff we made do with. I just would have liked a mini mart close by. Sandy bay Beach club within walking distance though and it’s just a stunning spot for dinner.

Loved this hotel. Quiet area, but easily accessible to busier areas on mopeds or taxis. Beds were so comfortable, rooms very clean, breakfast was good enough. Staff were lovely and helpful.

Very nice Bungalows villa

Very nice, and so quiet and nice garden. Thank you to the staffs was very nice, kind, friendly and also they decorated room for our honeymoon. We appriciated for everythin looks good and beautiful.

A wonderful place where nothing is too much trouble

Lovely cosy accommodation and some issues we had with the toilet were promptly dealt with. Thank you! The tasty breakfast was served with a warm smile from Dewi every morning and Ketut was exceptional in helping us to get back to the mainland after storms had shut the port. Couldn't have done it without him. Thank you so much.

Short but sweet stay in a beautiful surrounding. Staff are amazing and so helpful.

The room was beautiful surrounded by a garden and the staff, especially dewi were so welcoming and happy to help. The owner Ketut also took us snorkelling in the morning to see the beautiful coral and fish which was an amazing experience.

Can't wait to go back to the Royal Retreat

We enjoyed 4 nights here for our honeymoon: Amazing service, everyone knew your name Scooter rental was reliable and cheap Location was perfect for us - in between lots of different cool spots, close to Mushroom Bay, Sunset Point, etc. It was in a quiet area that wasn't overly touristy but within walking and biking distance of many tourist attractions. Great restaurants within minutes walk. Rooms were as advertised and amazing Bed was super comfy and king size Robes! How luxurious - it's the small things. Very well maintained grounds - people always working to keep things looking clean and tidy Delicious breakfast with choice of lime or watermelon juice and omelettes, eggs, pancakes, tea/coffee - all freshly cooked after we sat down

The bathroom lighting was quite dark but overall the bathroom was super beautiful. The water in the shower was not very hot.

The staff was fantastic. Villa lovely, rooms are cleaned everyday and breakfast was great. The location was very quiet as it is not on the main street.

Only feedback was that the villa had a LOT of centipedes! Apparently, they only come out during the raining season. They were all over the ground, walking to breakfast in morning, they were in the restaurant...despite the best efforts of the staff to clear them away and a few in the bathroom.

I loved this place. It's a Bali dream. It's very affordable and the small staff really makes you feel cared about. I went there with my family of 9 on a vacation. We had an epic game of marco-polo in the stunning pool. We enjoyed the daily breakfast of omelets and banana pancakes. YUM! The huts are beautiful. I would totally stay there again. They offer scooter rental for $5 a day, which is totally worth it since you need the scooter to easily get around the island. (Get a $6 phone card with data, and swap out your pin so you have a very reliable GPS to take you around the island.) They had large bottles of water we could buy at a reasonable price, they offered to help get us cash (which we didn't realize we needed on this island) and they even arranged a nice swim-with-merlins tour that my (beach-averse) husband loved. All-and-all, this was a great experience, and we are SO happy we stayed here! This is not as "hipster-high-end" as other places on the island, but I love how it's more isolated away from the club feeling vibe near the beach. And you get anywhere on the island in 10 mins on the scooter, so not a big deal. It's peaceful and very pretty. They do a great job on the landscaping. Also, my sister got sick (before arriving) and the owner lady gave her fresh coconut and was genuine about her concern and keeping an eye on her. She even put my brother-in-law on her scooter and took him to get smoothies when he needed it. We love these people. I was already going to write these people a rave review .... and that was before I left my passport in my room on Lembongan (an island) and didn't realize it. (Yes, I am the weirdo who stashed a passport in a pillow because Rick Steves told me to 15 years ago.) The owners immediately responded to my What'sApp text, managed to get my passport on a speed boat and delivered it to me with a friend at Sanur the port.

My husband wishes they had more sealant on the doors. There is a 3/4 inch gap when the door is closed, and he was nervous about bugs. Not a big deal. Also they initially wanted to charge us 3% for using a cc. But I showed them on Booking.com website where that is not the policy anymore to allow that. So they didn't charge us 3%. (I wish I'd just prepaid ahead of time via Booking.com... it's a great place!) These issues are no big deal, and I'd stay there again with no hesitation. It's a gorgeous jungle experience.

Great 4 night stay at Royal Retreat Villas

great bungalows 12 in total in a quiet location but easy access by walking to Dream Beach, Devils Tears, Mushroom Beach Wakanda Grill house & Soka Warang which are delicious. Motorbikes can be rented at the property 80k IDR / day, useful for getting to Cenigan Island over Yellow Bridge. Immaculately cleaned rooms, serviced daily Quiet location Sunbeds with towels by pool nice balcony with comfortable seats on each bungalow

Wifi was slow at times. Breakfast was below par and despite it being included we went elsewhere for better quality. Nothing to stop us staying there again!

Very disapointing

The bungalows were cute and depicted well in the photos

The description of this accommodation's location and its facilities and photos were wrong and misleading. The Manager said he was not aware of this and would fix it but still has not some three weeks later. Surely they would want to rectify such an incorrect description as quickly as possible. There are not 3 swimming pools to choose, no a la carte restaurant, no bar, no spa and no gym, no alacarte breakfast or continental. Not even a fruit platter as shown in the photos with breakfast. So our plans to find a nice hotel and relax by the pool ordering the odd cocktail and something to each during the day and then take a stroll to the nearby mushroom bay beach - just 300 metres were dashed due to false advertising.

Nice quiet place, good beds, basic bfast.

Very comfortable beds, good AC, nice and quiet surroundings with lots of flowers and plants.

It says falsely on Booking.com that there are for example 3 separate pools, gym and a continental bfast with choices. None of this is true. Only one pool, no gym and very basic bfast where you can choose (or at least we got this choice only) between coffee and juice, not both and some varieties of eggs cooked. I had my own tea with me and asked for a hot water AND a juice. Did not get the juice “because only either of them”. Also you need your own wheels to be able to move around from here. They do rent scooters on site though.

Room is spacious, perfect for my family who travels with young kids. Garden well maintained, staff and owner is super friendly makes us fell welcomed. Pool clean and enough shades, and lastly with the current price, you got more, super good deal!!

Good hosts who arranged a snorkelling trip, even got to see Dolphins on it! Rooms were clean and well equipped, good hotel. Within walking distance to dream beach and sunset point. Nice pool too!

Safe & TV didn’t work. Had to go to local shop to get drinks during day/night, would have been nice to get these at the hotel.

Staff were fantastic! Lovely hotel in quiet location. Great rooms & pool area. Located between 3 restaurants & dayspa. Good value for money.

Although located in the middle of different beaches it was still quite a walk to anywhere. Ideal if you had a motorbike.
