This one-bedroom villa sits on the second floor of the south side of Honua Kai's nine-story Hokulani Tower, a short walk from the elevator and, from there, the resort's pool slide and beachfront restaurant.
At 620 square feet inside and 145 square feet on the private lanai, the layout is efficient without feeling small: a king bed in the bedroom, a fully equipped kitchen for cooking in, and a partial ocean view from the lanai that opens up further once you're standing at the rail. Single-zone air conditioning and an in-unit washer and dryer round out the practical side of the villa, and a sofa sleeper in the living room brings total capacity to four for a couple traveling with guests. Modern furnishings throughout keep the space feeling current rather than dated.
Being on the south side of the Hokulani Tower puts this villa closer than most one-bedrooms to Honua Kai's most-used amenities: three of the resort's seven heated pools, the pool slide, and Duke's Beach House, the resort's oceanfront restaurant, are all a few minutes' walk rather than a full resort crossing. The Aina Gourmet Market is in this same tower for groceries, and sixteen Viking BBQs are set up resort-wide for guests who'd rather grill. The beach sits roughly 30 feet from the resort's edge.
For a couple or small family, this is a villa that trades some square footage for location: less walking to get to the pool, the slide, or dinner, and a lanai that still delivers a partial ocean view worth having morning coffee on.

We sure enjoyed the quiet of our condo -- the peak a boo ocean view from our patio was just enough for us to enjoy morning coffee and listen to the birds. The space was nicely furnished, clean and spacious. Having the coffee cafe and Gelato available on the ground floor made it an easy, frequent stop. Dukes is nice to have close by, wish it had more outdoor seating as it's a picture perfect spot. We look forward to a return visit, although celebrating our daughter Maddie's marriage proposal was a highlight hard to top! Thank you for the wonderful memories!

KBM was incredibly rude and unaccommodating every step of the way and they don’t maintain this condo well. The condo itself has a great layout and could be very nice if KBM managed it properly. First of all, it was not clean (hair in the bathroom, dirty kitchen floor, laundry closet filthy, sofa had stains and dried-on food, one of the two kitchen pendants over the bar was burned out, light switches didn’t work in the bedroom, two other light bulbs were burned out, bed was made very sloppily, none of the clocks were set to the correct time. KBM would not allow us to check in 30 min early and were very rude when we asked. They acted like they were doing us a big favor by renting to us. The instructions they provided for arrival and departure were unnecessarily complicated and confusing. I was honestly amazed by their rudeness and their poor management of a condo that could be beautiful. The unit is very loud inside because of the hallway with kids running down the hall and screaming. Overall I would say Honua Kai is not a good choice unless you are traveling with young children. We moved over to the Mahana next door and it was paradise compared to Honua Kai. I hesitate to give this negative review because the issues were not the fault of the owner but rather KBM but decided it might help the owner to know this.
