Hotel Gala Addara

All the staff were very welcoming, polite and attentive. We were given a delicious fresh melon drink on arrival and another day a fresh mango drink on return from a trip out which was a very welcome surprise. The breakfast was amazing! There was plenty of different fruit, egg, sausage/chicken bacon, hoppers with a lentil dish & mushrooms, a Sri Lankan coconut pancake roll, SL rice ball stuffed with a coconut sauce, yoghurt, toast & coffee. It kept us going all day! We loved the swimming pool with jacuzzi jets located in the lovely rainforest style garden. Chandi very kindly drove us to the Temple cave located nearby, and waited for us to complete our visit and drove us back. We also booked Chandi as our driver and guide to view Siiriya rock and Pidurangala rock from different locations. He also waited for us while we climbed Pidurangala rock. It was a fabulous afternoon. Chandi and his wife were both very hospitable. They also assisted us with other trip bookings and restaurant recommendations. I would definitely recommend this hotel to family and friends.

A wonderful stay in every way! This is a true green oasis in Dambulla. The owners and staff go above and beyond to make you feel welcome and comfortable. We really appreciated the fresh juice when we returned after a busy day of sightseeing. The pool is clean and refreshing. The breakfast was incredible—so generous that we even joked they were trying to kill us with food! The owners genuinely care about their guests. They gave us honest local advice, such as recommending the Cargills supermarket instead of the smaller shops with higher tourist prices. We only regret not booking the safari through them. So definitely ask their advice if you have plans or ideas Thank you, Renu, Tandi, and your entire team, for making our stay such a wonderful experience! 🙏

The food here was excellent. And the owners were excellent at English - they have family living abroad, including Canada and United States, whom they occasionally visit. The owner actually studied landscape architecture and went to university abroad in England. He even studied under Geoffrey Bawa, so he had a lot to say about the Hotel Kandalama and gave us advice on visiting it. Their chef is really passionate about food, and really eager to cook for us, which we found very endearing. They also have amazing vegetable and fruit trees all over their property, which they eagerly showed us. These are wonderful and honest people. Room was clean, and essentially served as our basecamp for going to the Sigiriya lion's rock.

The staff were so friendly and helpful. They were great with the children. The food was delicious. We ate there every night of our stay! The facilities were clean, and although basic, the hotel had everything we needed.

There was nothing we don’t like!
