Hotel Maribor, City apartments

We had a great stay at Hotel Maribor. Our apartment was spacious and luxurious, such a welcome change from staying in other rather cramped European hotels during our trip. Clean, modern and with a great balcony. FANTASTIC location in Maribor.

Everything was great!

Really great and spacious apartment, located in the centre of Maribor off the pedestrian precinct. Helpful staff on the desk. Easy walking access to city centre, many good restaurants close by. Secure (if slightly pricey) parking. The apartment we had was fully equipped with everything needed to prepare a meal, if so desired. There is a sauna/spa available (to book & pay) - which if we had stayed longer we would have used. Breakfast was very good quality and a plentiful spread.

Slightly ironically, the single blind to the terrace from the bedroom was automated. But the blinds over the windows in the dining/lounge area are manual .... and there are many!

Staff is profesional and pleasant, breakfast was great, room is spacious and beautiful!

Cleanliness of the room was falling behind the rest of the experience. Dirty glasses (smudges on them, calc), floor that could do with another round of cleaning, dirty water boiler (was that mold?), pencil marks where electric plug is mounted in the bathroom. The worst part of experience though was when somebody starting violently banging on our door at 4:50am. We tried calling reception via mobile number but nobody answered, and didn't know what to do. We could hear them going around the hotel banging on the doors, and after half an hour and second attempt by them to get into our room and us yelling at them to leave, they left us alone. In the morning, the staff apologized profoundly, sad it was a guest having a party, and gave us free breakfast and parking. We appreciated the gesture, but still wonder should there be a way to protect against incidents like this -> a security guard, an "on duty" receptionist or something. I can't say, but it sure was a very unpleasant experience at that moment.
