This accommodation felt very authentic, the owners were lovely and told us recommendations of place to go and things to do that weren't 'touristy', which we love. We didn't use the communal kitchen area but it was well equipped and clear.
We chose the room with the 'city views' but it was more of a view of a big main road, which the accommodation is on. Our room was a little fusty, we did see into another room when they had checked out and that looked nicer than ours, maybe choose the room with the 'courtyard view'. The location is a bit out of the way, it was our first time in Kyoto so we didn't know the city, this isn't the fault of the accommodation but I would stay more central next time.
