Margutta Mews

Large apartment in a great location, close to the Spanish Steps but tucked away in a quiet road in a secure mews. Both the bedroom and living room were a generous size and on two different floors. The bathroom - also upstairs - was a good size with a very nice shower. The kitchenette is compact but adequate. The apartment is owned by a boutique hotel on the same road so bags can be left at the luggage store before check-in/after check-out as necessary. This almost meant daily housekeeping was provided. Rome is an expensive city and this apartment was no exception but very good value for the location and facilities provided.

There were odd things not available in the kitchen - for example no sharp knife (we didn't cook but we did want to make up a plate of cold meat/cheeses). Washing up liquid was provided but nothing to wash or dry dishes; there were plenty of dishwasher tabs provided but there were only two mugs so using the dishwasher to wash up so little seemed wasteful. We had an issue with the toilet cistern on the first night and we weren't impressed with how the staff dealt with it initially - pretty much telling us we'd need to close the door and live with it until morning. Sleep would have been impossible. We eventually got an overnight solution - but we did have to be insistent and make several calls to reception - and the problem was fixed the following morning.

Posto fantastico! Consigliatissimo!

In pieno centro storico, al riparo da rumori e via vai dei turisti.
