Will stay again!

Both dinner and breakfast were good and plentiful, the family room had plenty of space for two adults and two small kids, big bathroom, big TV, etc etc but the REAL highlight was the aftercare customer service. My daughter left her beloved stuffy behind and, after calling, the staff found it and shipped it back to us with a note and a little stuffed friend. It arrived today and we were all chuffed to bits. Thank you so much to the lovely team for going the extra mile. We will definitely be back because of it!!

The only tiny things I'd suggest are shampoo/ conditioner in the bathroom and we stayed right inside the main entrance to the hotel and could hear the door throughout the evening. It didn't keep us awake but better soundproofing just for that one room would be even better.

I booked a family room and when I opened the door , the bed was a double. No way was I sharing a double with my 19year son , within 3 minutes I was in another room with twin beds . Not Blue jays fault at all , but this was the only issue

Clean, comfortable, and excellent value for money!

Staff were excellent and a big thank you for Felicity for helping us when we needed to change a couple of things on the booking.

Only down point are the doors to the hotel rooms and the fact you can’t close them quietly so felt bad for our neighbors in early hours.

The continental breakfast was a little lacking , only cereal, fruit, porridge, toast and croissants. No yogurt, or fruit for porridge like raisins etc. Orange juice tasted watered down.

The room was very spacious for a family of four, and it was incredibly clean. Getting the key from reception was swift and excellent customer service. Breakfast was delicious and very appreciated. Clean and tidy, and excellent for the price

The carvery experience would put me off staying there again.

Sticky tables in the adjoining pub. Miserly meet portions from the carvery. Most dinner options were unhealthy with far too many calories and saturated fat. Some healthier food options would be better.

Lovely peaceful stay

Breakfast was great! Could help yourself to as much tea & coffee as you wanted along with the continental breakfast. Room was away from bar so nice a quiet at night! Bed very comfortable

Only stayed because of a family get together

We booked the Blue Jay for a family event to visit an elderly relative who is in a nursing home in Derby. There was a private function room which worked well.

Check in was from 2 pm. For us this worked well as our rooms were ready but for many others their rooms weren’t ready for several hours. Obviously the hotel didn’t have enough staff! Also there wasn’t clarity about the price of drinks at the bar. You were supposed to get a discount if you were staying there however our first round of 3 large glasses of wine ( = a bottle) was far more expensive than a bottle- and that was supposed to include a discount!!

I stayed in this family room before. They should have changed the bases of the beds. It was dirty, ripped, and broken. I try to use one of their towels. It had a hair on it. I wasn't impressed as I stayed there at least five or six times before

Lovely friendly staff, would rather stick with premier inn

Easy to check in, site was well maintained, free parking, generally clean. Quiet location, close to venue, good amenities. Staff were very friendly and quick to help where they could.

Pre visit room checks were not thorough as toilet flush was turned off and towels on back of bathroom door. Turned out flush was off as it was faulty and ran constantly. Hotel was fully booked so couldn’t be moved, was given 2 free breakfasts as compensation. Bed was hard and small, breakfast wasn’t available until 8am at weekends and was ok, nothing special.
