Location & distance

Check-in was at 3pm and I arrived at the apartment at roughly 4pm and found that it was still being cleaned which was very inconvenient as that was eating into our time that we paid for. As per the host's instructions on underground parking, I could not find any designated parking spaces for my car. So I parked in an empty spot and informed them. However, they then told me I needed a parking permit to park in any space. Their replies took long and I was left feeling panicky as I did not want to get my car clamped/fined or anything. They also provided a contact number which they never answer, no matter how many times you call them. After an hour, the cleaner handed a parking permit. The apartment itself was advertised to have LED lights which was the main reason I booked it as I wanted to just chill and watch movies for the weekend. However, not a single LED light was working. This was incredibly frustrating as the room was just bland otherwise. I informed the host of this, to which they replied they will refund £60 back to me which I thought was okay. During check out, I realised there was a scratch on my car's bonnet (see pictures) despite advertising their "24/7 security safe underground car park". This was the final straw for me. In the following days, I have been messaging the hosts on Booking.com, SMS, WhatsApp and even Snapchat which they provided as an alternative. What I did not expect to receive from these disgusting hosts is a threatening message (see pictures). This just demonstrated how low these vultures will go. After I asked them if they're trying to threaten me, they proceeded to block me without fulfilling the promise of refunding £60. This company should NOT be hosting on a credible site like Booking.com or anywhere else at all. Everyone should avoid this host.

Good location for Jewellery Quarter. Secure, free car park. Clean and fairly modern, nice bathrooms.

The whole process to get checked in online, then find the parking spaces, then find the apartment, was complicated and fussy. Online check in form asked for unnecessary information (don't know why they needed my date of birth); it wouldn't submit properly so took a long time to sort, and we were suddenly presented with a requirement for a £200 deposit, which meant we were giving card details and personal information to a company other than booking.com. Because we booked last minute, and had problems, they were unwilling to waive the deposit requirement as an exception, which I thought was very poor customer service. The instructions to find the parking space and apartment weren't clear...again, not great if you're in a hurry. The whole experience to get there wasnt easy and easy quite stressful. Unfortunately, because this felt like we must be staying somewhere like Buckingham Palace, the apartment itself was fairly mediocre and a bit of a letdown. It was ok. Quite sterile, less cosy and smaller than pictured, some curtains might have made a difference.

Stayed in flat 164, the oven doesn't work, shower valve hanging off the wall, lounge window doesn't close properly and no tourist information at all, we'll be looking elsewhere when we stay again

Cold, Uncomfortable and Stressful

We made the best out of the flat given our circumstances and the way we were treated.

The heating and hot water wasn’t working and we had it confirmed by the cleaner who came the day after we reported an issue that there was a maintenance issue and had to bring portable heaters to the apartment, and when they tried to give us another room it was too late, as they originally said when the cleaner came round that they couldn’t offer it, and when they could it was the night before we were leaving. The communication was horrendous because it was all via text and I had to send videos and pictures rather than talk to someone, because the issue could have been highlighted and acted on much quicker. It caused a lot of anxiety and ruined our trip, and I still haven’t heard back from them about making things right other than them offering an extra two hours check out plus another apartment too late. We were in a freezing cold apartment in the middle of winter and the fact that they still haven’t reached out and apologised is atrocious and is not acceptable.

It was secure, well lit and had 24hour secured entry. The location was great and it was easy to get to by car. I used it for a weekend business trip and it served me and my colleague really well.

Apartment in Jewellery Quarter

Apartment was cozy and welcoming. Kitchen utensils were plentiful. Cooking facilities in working order. Heating made Place warm n cozy and a comfortable temperature. Water pressure was great. Next to a big size Tesco, and some eateries nearby.

Thought there would be more kitchen cleaning materials, t-towel. Toiletries were just shower gel. No shampoo, but fine. Maybe could be a bit fresher as drain smell on arrival but did clear. Tea, coffee and sugar was old looking so bought our own. Cleaner chasing us out before 11am. Wasn't particularly pleasant .

Disappointing stay due to poor facilities, parking, and maintenance issues

Property was nice location not far from town centre and good security

When we first drove into the parking we had problems following the instructions given for the parking spaces. When we did find the parking space it was quite tight space and it ended up scarping the side of the car. There were no lines to separate the parking spaces and we got a note saying we shouldn’t park in two parking spaces but if we tried to park any further it would have hit the pole. We also had difficulty finding the block as there weren’t many signs about to locate us. When we entered the property we saw the bed frame in one of the bedrooms were broken and there were stains on the wall. There was also a foul damp smell in the en suite bathroom. In the kitchen we saw that some of the cutlery like the plates were chipped. The shower was very hard to control the temperature and either had boiling hot water or ice cold water no in between. The TV was very slow and sometimes didn’t work. We were disappointed with these facilities

I DIDN’T ENJOY MY STAY

There is nothing fantastic about the apartment. I have stayed in 3 other apartments since my holiday, this is the most disappointing.

The entrance to the apartment was very untidy. It seems the place has been abandoned for a long time. There was even cobwebs at the bottom of the entrance of the door. The master’s bedroom had 2 small beds, i expected a Kingsize bed, the bathroom in the master bedroom was also very small. The cotton of the window in the master’s bedroom was hurriedly fixed, wasn’t covering properly. I had to fix it myself before it could cover the light reflection a bit. The lighting in the hallway, the sitting room and the kitchen areas were poor, some bulbs weren’t working. Especially the kitchen area, it was badly lit. The apartment entrance had no lighting at all. Their communication was abysmal. They never communicated all through my stay If i needed anything or was comfortable. I even messaged them but no response till date. They didn’t have enough shower gel, no hair conditioner and shampoo in the apartment. There were no detergents for laundry. Other things were missing in the kitchen but let me end it here but in all, I didn’t enjoy my stay, there was no value for my hard earned money. I’m so shocked they even withheld a whooping £200 contingency deposit against property damage, the apartment has nothing exceptional. They can do better

Excellent base for a Birmingham stay

Very comfortable and well presented two bedroom apartment close to the centre of Birmingham. There are also a couple of good restaurants nearby that do good breakfasts and also a good pub eatery, The Button Factory, within a short walk. The security guards were very helpful on arrival, and the apartments were very quiet. The entry and exit procedure to the apartment was well explained and efficient, and the underground car parking was a great asset for my stay.

The lighting in the underground car park was quite dim, no fault of the apartment owners.

Lovely size apartment. Provided facilities, kitchen items etc were plentiful. Location is perfect for Birmingham. Onsite security guard was very friendly, welcoming and helpful. Would definitely book again should I be looking to stay in Birmingham again.

Clean and tidy, perfect location for the Jewellery Quarter & Assay Office. Secure parking on site a big plus. Very quiet and peaceful at night.

I think some kind of welcome pack would be great. Akin to a ‘you are here’ and this is what’s around you to see and do, also good places to eat in the area. I personally would have found this very useful.

This property exceeded my expectations, amazing service through out our stay, cleanliness was a clear priority in this property and 24/7 on site security made you feel safe. Excellent Stay – Great Service and Spacious Accommodation I had a very pleasant stay at City Apartments in Birmingham. The apartment was clean, spacious, and well-equipped with everything I needed for a comfortable visit. Allocated parking with security was a big plus, especially in the city. There were a couple of minor issues at the beginning, but Hassan was absolutely brilliant – he responded immediately and had everything sorted in no time. His helpful and professional attitude really made a difference. Overall, it was a great experience, and I wouldn’t hesitate to stay here again. Highly recommended

Fantastic safe secure location ample parking large apartment, we stayed in a 2 bed apartment with three single beds and 1 Double. A main bathroom and ensuite as well great for families. Would definitely stay here again and highly recommend.

We had to wait outside the property for nearly 2 hours as the key was not in the key safe. When we got inside, there were dirty towels on the floor in the 1st bathroom, and someone had used the toilet in the 2nd bathroom, leaving their number 2 deposit in the toilet. There was damage throughout the property; damaged headboard, missing drawer handles, kitchen knife with a missing tip (dangerous), and the 2nd door entrance didn't open (health & safety issue) . I contacted the main point of contact and was promised a full clean the following day - this did not happen. I was advised to take photos of the damage to ensure I would get my deposit back -.therefore I spent the evening taking photos of all the issues to make sure I did not lose the deposit due to someone else's behaviour.

Lovely spacious apartment. But groups of people staying there, after a night out they constantly very noisy on the complex and by car park. This is at 02.00 Sunday morning, none of us could sleep. With that in mind and no security person around to tell people to keep the noise down. Surely that’s what he’s paid to do! This was a real dampener for us.

Good value for money. Perfect location for what I needed.

I was a little annoyed that a £200 deposit was taken out of my bank even though I had already paid it in full. Everything was clean and tidy, the location was perfect for where I was staying. The double bed was a little hard but the singles were really comfy. The fire alarm went off in the building around 9.45 and scared the life out of me but apart from that, it was all good.

Lovely apartment, very safe, very clean, roomy, well equipped, very comfortable bed and very quiet at night.

It was a bit difficult to workout what to do on arrival. You are met with a closed gate and don't know whether to push a button, whether you should have a code, or whether the gate should open automatically. The gate person eventually saw that I didn't have a pass key and opened the gates for me. He then explained where the underground parking was - but as there is more than one entrance to underground parks I was a bit concerned that I did not have the correct one - I did but I wasn't sure. But after that initial concern everything was wonderful - just a bit more explanation about the parking would help.
