A perfect retreat!

We had the most wonderful Valentine's weekend stay here. From the moment we arrived, everything felt so welcoming and special. Vanessa went above and beyond - baking a delicious cake for our arrival and even having a bottle of Prosecco chilling for us. Such a thoughtful touch that made the weekend feel extra special. We also took the recommendation to visit Buttermere Lakes, and they were absolutely fantastic - breathtaking views and a perfect spot for a romantic walk. Thank you, Vanessa, for your warmth and hospitality. We've made some beautiful memories here and would love to return!

Beautiful Romantix Geaway with great standards of household goods

Absolutely wonderful get away. The house is of a very high standard. The quality of the furnishings is fantastic. The host Vanessa was beyond perfect as a host. We went as an early get away for my 40th and she went to the effort of baking a cake and bringing a bottle of bubbly Wonderful place to stay. We have rebooked to go again in a few weeks Thanks again

Ann's Hill feels like the home you see when you close your eyes.

Our second visit to this venue and once again we're already looking for when we can return. For ten years we've always taken October as a time to catch some late sun in the Canaries. Ann's Hill has changed that with its beautiful décor and location. The warmth of an open fire during the autumnal evening somehow hits differently and fills your heart. And those autumnal days offer a colour palette to treat your eyes.

The only thing that's not to like is having to leave.

A perfect place to stay, a real luxury.

The hot tub was a real treat after a day’s walking and views were amazing. The Lodge itself was spotless and very well equipped. Every little detail had been thought of with lots of luxurious touches. We could have stayed forever! Vanessa was an excellent host, responded to queries straight away but was very careful not to intrude. Just perfect!

We honestly didn’t want to leave! The Lodge at Ann’s Hill is one of those rare places that’s even better than the photos. Everything was just spot on — super comfortable, beautifully decorated, and totally peaceful. You can tell a lot of care has gone into every detail. The hot tub was the perfect way to unwind, and the bottle of Prosecco on arrival was such a lovely surprise. It felt like a proper treat from start to finish. We only stayed a couple of nights but it felt like a real getaway — already thinking about when we can come back! If I could rate it higher than a 10 I would.. and Vanessa was great with explaining some of the things on arrival even though it’s all documented ..

We’ve found our heaven

We stayed in the Lodge. This is the most amazing place and we feel very privileged to have been able to stay here. It had everything you need and much more. I was literally finding more items in the kitchen everyday. The hot tub was amazing, and very difficult decisions everyday whether to use the hot tub, or the bath tub…whether to explore the lakes, or stay in this magnificent house and gardens during the day. We were married the day before and thought our ‘bubble would pop’ after the wedding day, but we well and truly stayed on ‘cloud nine’ until after we left Ann’s Hill. Vanessa is the perfect host, there for recommendations and guidance if you want it, and left you to your own devices if you want privacy. The extra touches of lemon drizzle cake, chocolates, Prosecco, plenty of tea and coffee etc, breakfast were all very much appreciated. I loved the friendly horses in the adjoining field and also Jess the dog. Even the weather was perfect. Can’t wait to stay there again.

Weekend away

We were upgraded to the lodge and it was absolutely beautiful. Really spacious and welcoming. Vanessa left us prosecco and a cake as well as pastries and yogurt and granola for breakfast. The whole place was amazing and the views were incredible. Vanessa was very welcoming and gave us some fantastic recommendations. Every room was really homely and there was nothing that wasn't not thought of. We really enjoyed our stay and would definitely come back again.

A perfect pre Christmas break

The cottage is perfect, Vanessa has thought of everything, milk, fresh fruit, bottle of bubbly and the best lemon drizzle cake we’ve ever tasted. Items supplied for continental breakfasts, all toiletries and cleaning materials. The Christmas decorations are beautiful, a real tree 🌲

Stunning cottage!

Beautiful house, comfy beds and lovely hot tub. Host dropped in with a lemon drizzle cake and a bottle of Prosecco and some pastries were left for us. Gorgeous bedrooms and a roll top bath.

Absolutely exceptional,lovely romantic. This is a gem, from the moment we opened the door you could feel the warmness, quietness of the home. The private hot tub and gardens so private and peaceful. Spotlessly clean. Everything is provided and fully stocked kitchen. Very peaceful place to relax. Out of this world and over the moon.

The cottage was breathtaking! Decor and facilities were out of this world, the property had everything anyone could need and more. The property owner has thought of absolutely everything - including proving an information pack with instructions, directions and recommendations which was extremely handy. She even kept up communication daily to make sure everything was okay and helped me and my partner find somewhere for dinner when we had to make a last minute booking and couldn't find a restaurant that had availability. Couldn't recommend this surreal cottage more, it really was the perfect getaway.

Amazing Most Break.didnt want to come home.

Everything, absolutely immaculate from inside to outside, everything you could possibly require for cooking, kitchen is amazing, beautiful family sized dining table, next to it, with french doors that open out onto a lovely patio area with rattan table and chairs, to enjoy your breakfast cuppa and admire the views. Bedrooms luxurious and in keeping with a cottage style (this review is the lodge) one with ensuite shower and toilet. The family bathroom has a beautiful free standing copper bath which we all had a nice relaxing soak in. The lounge boasts two lovely sofas, tv and French windows with a juliett balcony. The cabinet behind has dvds in and also games to play. No matter which window you looked out from there was a lovely view. The hot tub is an added bonus, and fantastic at night to rest your weary bones after a busy day rambling around Keswick (short drive maybe ten minutes) or climbing Cat Bells, and others. The view from the tub, at night you can watch the owl that comes by after dusk and the bat's that fly around catching their supper (moths). It was just a delight. The property has a washer dryer to in a small utility room, which also has a toilet, should you need to pop out the tub for a wee. Tub is checked every morning for the levels. Vanessa is the most lovely lady, there was granola and yoghurt in the fridge and milk with tea coffee and sugar. There were frozen breakfast croissants and pain au chocolat in the freezer. With a lovely chilled bottle of prosecco in the fridge. Next day on our return from Cat Bells a delicious Homemade Lemon Drizzle cake was waiting on the doorstep in a cake box for us. What more can anyone ask for or not in our case, Everything was and is done out of a genuine care for her guests. We even took our daughter along to see Bill and Lucy her horses. The new born calves and her other dog Jess came along next morning, to see us. Just an amazing place, with beautiful hosts.

A Small Slice of Heaven

A lovely warm welcome from Vanessa awaits, we were made to feel so comfortable, nothing but attention to detail, the little things that matter plus more. Tasteful and good quality furnishings and appliances; even a bread maker! Nothing has been missed out. We didn't want for anything. The bed was amazing, so sumptuous and comfortable. The bathroom, lounge, kitchen everything was just ahhhhh! amazing. The views across to the mountains..... Nothing short of WoW and stunning, if you want some luxury for a short stay to do as much or as little as you want quiet and secluded then this is it, you will not be disappointed. Exceptional

Ann's Hill cottage is a 5 star worth of a luxury accommodation. Every thing you will find in a 5 star hotel was there. Vanessa is an exceptional host. The cottage is surrounded by fields, so very private, although it is in a farm, you definitely don't hear any animal sounds. The location is convenient for 20mins drive to Derwentwater and Buttermere.

The town centre was a bit quiet with very little choices for good restaurants.

A Little Gem in a Romantic Setting = PERFECT

We loved EVERYTHING about this stay! It was fantastic! Vanessa is a brilliant host, she's so kind and friendly and very professional. Leading up to our arrival Vanessa was keeping in regular comms to update me prior to the arrival, and upon arrival, she met us at the lodge, showed us around the property, showed us how to use the appliances, etc especially how to use the hot tub (since the lid can only be removed in a certain way) and then she handed over the keys. To top it off Vanessa left us with a lovely welcome gift which includes, bubbly, cakes, chocolate, milk, yoghurts and cheese. The lodge was exceptional! It was incredibly clean (I mean spotless), the rooms were massive, the bedrooms were lovely and beautifully decorated. The living room is the GEM of the house, as it contains the log burner and has spectacular views of the surrounding garden/farmlands (I honestly fell in love with this romantic room). As the lodge is a romantic hidden gem it means that you are surrounded by PEACE AND QUIET! I mean you couldn't hear anything but yourselves, you can play music loud and no one would hear and you're surrounded by the most stunning views! To top it off Vanessa owns two gorgeous Horses that mind their own business but if you talk to them they will come to say hello. This was my partner and I's first break away and we really needed it since the COVID Restrictions have taken place. We longed for a romantic getaway and it is exactly what we got! On the day of departure Vanessa even texted us to ask when we're leaving so that she could stop by and say goodbye to us, I thought this was extremely thoughtful and professional. We had a lovely chat about our stay and even got to meet Vanessa's dog, who was a delight! I have already recommended Ann's Hill Lodge to all my friends and family, and we are actually planning to travel back to Ann's Hill next year!

Personally, I don't think much could be better as I found the whole experience perfect. Maybe the only thing I could suggest is having a document to show people what kind of activities they could do around the area. Nowadays everything is done by phone and that is how we found the Alpaca farm that we visited and we also found the site to Canoeing via the Ann's Hill Facebook page.

Not met on arrival, no chocolate on arrival and no breakfast basket every morning, was made to feel uncomfortable by owner which made us not feel able to contact them or use the facilities
