Amazing apartment in the centre of Bad Schandau. Beautifully clean, and we especially loved the fly screens and how cool the building stayed in the hot summer weather. The host was fantastic and we had a great time miming to each other as we didn't speak each other's language. The host's lovely daughter even took us to the train station on our last day. Amazing stay, absolutely recommended!

It's much bigger than it looks, the bed is really comfortable and such a good location for hiking.

The only thing I'd say that could be improved would be to have the basics like cooking oil available in the flat, but really there were no downsides. When you arrive, just knock on the door/ring the bell!

My host didn't speak any English, so I wasn't able to get any tips on hikes in the area, but she was extremely kind, picking me up from the train station when I arrived and dropping me off when I left (otherwise it's about a 25 minute walk to the station, or a ferry ride from the station in to town). The location is fantastic, right near all the shops and restaurants and very close to the tram if you want to use that. Bad Schandau was a great base for hiking in the national park and for exploring other parts, like the Bastei Bridge and Konnigstein Fortress by train (both of which are must sees). While there wasn't a view from the apartment, it was just across the road from a beautiful park. I'd happily choose Bad Schandau again as a base for exploring Saxon Switzerland and would stay at this apartment again, as it really is great value for money.
