Really well located, quirky style that worked very well, enjoyed Adele’s art brightening up our room.

Nothing they could do about the extensive road works going on outside. But the house is set well back, and noise wasn’t a problem.

We enjoyed our stay very much. Mathieu communicated promptly and was a very friendly and attentive host.

This characterful Chambre d’Hotes was in an Ideal location set in a delightful garden. The room was tastefully furnished with a very comfortable bed.

Central location for walking and amenities. Comfortable bed, and bedding and two easy chairs which were also comfortable. Spacious bathroom. Generous breakfast laid separately for each table, with good quality products, especially the lovely jams! Access to a communal coffee machine, kettle and fridge is good & useful.

Minor points, but cobwebs over the bed and damp towels not replaced after housekeeping,& crumbs left on the bedroom floor even after the bed was made, meant the floor hadn't been swept. Not much privacy in the bathroom for dressing,a window blind would be good. Garden could benefit from a tidy. Didn't detract from our stay there overall.

Great location

Location is excellent, just a short walk to the restaurants and we easily found a parking space in the road near the property, The garden is beautiful and the building is lovely. The host was very friendly and helpful.

We had a lovely room, both it and the bathroom were large, my husband would have preferred it to have a bath.

Perfect spot for a relaxing stay where you will be warmly welcomed and very well looked after.

Beautifully decorated old property which had every modern convenience. Unique artwork throughout (mostly by Adele who is so talented we had to visit her gallery in town and make some purchases!) with an eclectic mix of furnishings which worked perfectly together. Very comfortable throughout. Spacious garden with lots of private little seating areas which are perfect for a drink or snack or an al fresco lunch. Mathieu is a complete superstar and nothing was too much trouble for him. Prior to our arrival he booked a taxi to meet us from the train in Valognes as we were travelling without a car. He also made several phone calls while we were there to arrange more taxis as our plans changed. Location is perfect, near town but lovely and quiet and also near the coast. Lots of great walks around and plenty of choice for dinner.

Good to find the place still charming.

A happy return to a favourite town - and a good location within it. Despite holiday period there was no problem with nearby overnight on-street car parking every day - as Mathieu had assured us.

Nothing to do with L'Ermitage, and not greatly bothered, but circumstances meant that our visit was at a busier time of year than preferred. Restaurants tended to be more crowded than previously experienced and reservations essential.

The chambre d'hote was in the home of Mathieu and Adele. She is a local artist with a gallery in St Vaast, and the room was festooned with her works. Tea and coffee making facilities and a fridge were available in the corridor outside the huge room that we had. Enormous bed, and wide-screen television. The property was in an extremely central location

Lovely super clean B&B , would definitely stay again

We had a lovely large double room ( would of liked 2 armchairs though) but it was super clean , huge bed , lovely bathroom with excellent shower and the continental breakfast was excellent . Matthieu was a good host and always came for a little chat and making sure we had everything we needed

Nothing about the accommodation per se. Based on other places in which we stayed during our short vacation, it was, perhaps, a little more expensive than others but the breakfast made up for this.

A very comfortable stay in an excellent location.

There was lots of unique artwork in our room and throughout the property. L’Ermitage clearly had some history to it with antique furniture and original features wherever you looked. Our room was large and comfortable. The bed was amazing. The garden was lovely with shaded areas to sit. Best of all was the location, only a couple of minutes stroll from the shops, restaurants and harbour. It was perfect place to stay for a short break while exploring the Cotenin Peninsula.

I didn’t get the coffee I ordered for breakfast and there was nobody available to ask until we were checking out.

A short walk from everything

Friendly, relaxed and accommodating hosts. Mathieu and Adel made us most welcome. Great shower in large shower room and bed was excellent. Breakfast was fun with all guests at one large table and Adel kept everyone well supplied with tea, coffee or hot hot chocolate as requested.

The plug in the wash basin didn't seal so everything had to be done with constant running water and ..................... well nothing else was negattive!

Der Gastgeber hat uns in seinem Haus einen sehr herzlichen Empfang bereitet. Das Haus liegt in einem schönen Garten und der Ort und der Hafen ist in wenigen Minuten fussläufig zu erreichen. Im Zimmer liegt ein Büchlein, welches alle Informationen zu den Gastgebern, zum Haus, der Umgebung mit möglichen Ausflügen und Tipps für Restaurants gibt. Eine reizende Idee, die ich so noch nie gesehen habe. Das Zimmer war sehr schön und geräumig sowie mit bequemen Betten ausgestattet. Die Gastgeberin Adèle ist Künstlerin, ihre Kreativität gibt dem ganzen Haus einen besonderen Charme. Das Frühstück darf man wünschen und steht zur abgemachten Zeit im gemütlichen Gemeinschaftsraum bereit.

Es war alles ausgezeichnet.
