Outpost Ubud Penestanan

Outpost Penestanan was a great base for my time in Ubud. The staff were consistently lovely, friendly and welcoming, and the location was excellent. The upstairs coworking area was a peaceful and practical place to work, and it was especially convenient being so close to Alchemy Yoga, as well as nearby cafés and restaurants.

When my work calendar changed in December, I slightly amended the dates of my July booking through Booking.com. This unexpectedly made the entire month’s accommodation immediately payable, just before Christmas. Neither Booking.com nor Outpost was willing to offer any flexibility, refund the payment or allow me to rebook for a shorter stay. Booking.com also needs to make the financial consequences of changing dates much clearer before an amendment is confirmed. As a result, I ended up staying for four weeks rather than the three weeks I had originally needed. This later became particularly frustrating because the ongoing conflict in the Middle East disrupted my return journey and left me stuck for longer. Had I stayed for three weeks, I would have been able to return without those problems. Although the travel disruption itself was not Outpost’s fault, a more flexible approach to the booking amendment would have prevented much of the difficulty.

Loved the space. It was peaceful and quiet. Close to everything and with everything I needed.

Location is convenient to eateries, 5 mins gojek to Ubud city.

Room has the smell of mold due to insufficient sunlight. Uneven flooring. Shower facility is too high to reach.
