Pension Azahar

Small pension, close to Santa Cruz district with bars and restaurants close by yet set on a quiet street. Very good and quiet ac. Very clean.

Reception closes at 10pm and a flight delay caused me to arrive at 10.30pm, despite informing the pension around 3pm everything was locked and in darkness when I arrived, I had only 2% phone battery and no entry instructions had been sent to me prior to arrival. I phoned the non English speaking emergency number and after a very muddled conversation details were sent on WhatsApp, but it was dark and my phone was dying. Non of this was necessary if instructions had been sent earlier in the day. There was almost no lighting on the top floor resulting in my tumbling down a 6" step on the landing and then into my room due to a plank of wood nailed across the doorway. These things need to be corrected and cost little.

Great location and very clean. Clear instructions how to access the place and how to get the key (we arrived after 10pm)

No proper window. A little bit noisy - we had noisy neighbours next door on the first night but it was fine the next two nights.

Great location. Very quiet. Comfortable bed and air conditioning.

The front desk woman was late for work and several exhausted travellers were waiting to be greeted with a huge attitude.

Close proximity to areas of interest, extra blanket in the room to keep you warm and service from receptionist was quick and efficient.

Cleanliness was a bit of an issue. I found hairs embedded in the blanket and the pink sheet was stained. I also found hairs in the shower.
