It was old and musty smelling. Food was horrible, beds and pillows were hard, older guy at the front desk wasn’t friendly, we only had a sheet and had to ask for blankets 2x to get enough, pictures online were very misleading and I just don’t see how this is a 4star accommodation.

Yes it was very very nice resort the diving section was very professionally run as well. Attention to detail from the everything the room, the cleanliness the beautiful garden everything was exceptional the food was also exceptional. I didn't have a bad meal,breakfast was included in my deal and it was a really delicious breakfast very very happy with my stay there we would not hesitate to stay there again. Truly a 5 star Dive Shop I’m a Dive Master and highly recommend the diving at Aqua Dive Resort

A comfortable and relaxing stay in a quiet area, close to all amenities.

Clean and comfortable room, with a pleasant pool and surrounding area. We requested an extra bed, which was ready upon our arrival. The room is well-equipped, with a microwave, kettle, plates and cutlery. We really liked the location: a quiet area, yet close to everything — within walking distance of the beach, good restaurants, supermarkets and laundry. Breakfast is served buffet-style, with both Western and Indonesian options. Wi-Fi worked well throughout our stay. We will definitely be back!

Some details that could be improved: Breakfast is varied, but could be improved. In particular, the bacon was very oily and not very pleasant. The pool bar is only open during breakfast. It would be a nice improvement to have snacks, coconut water and drinks available throughout the day. On one of the days, there were not enough pool towels available. There were four of us, and we only received one, as the others were being washed and there were no more at the time. Only two bottles of water were provided on the first day. On the following days, a water jug dispenser was available in the corridor. The walk to the beach at night is quite dark, so, at night, it is more convenient to access the beach restaurants by passing through the neighbouring Prama Hotel.

The room was very nice. Bed was comfy and the room was really clean. There was a small area outside to sit which is always nice when included. The pool was very nice and clean and the breakfast was great.

The overall resort could do with a little more maintenance, like cleaning/clearing paths and just a bit more tidying of the walking areas.

Great place, we stayed twice.

Loved the gardens and location. We stayed here at the start of our trip and loved it so much came back for a few nights. The first room was in a newer part and was super spacious and clean, though you could hear a bit of music noise from a nearby bar. Our second room was a garden room near the pool and super quiet, but a lot smaller. Breakfasts were great, lots of vegetarian options. And we loved the pools, very open and always felt like we had them to our self.

Some of the older rooms could do with a renovation.

A Pleasant, Economical Gem in Sanur

We recently enjoyed a delightful four-night stay, opting for a Standard room. Despite being situated at the front of the resort, we were pleased to find our room surprisingly quiet. The accommodation was functional, clean, and comfortable, providing everything we needed. While there was absolutely no view, it didn't matter in the slightest as we spent the majority of our time outside. The resort itself is well located. It's set just a pleasant five-minute walk back from the beach, and is nestled right in a lively centre that boasts numerous bars and restaurants—perfect for evening excursions. Villa Puri Ayu offers a mix of standard rooms and bungalow-style apartments. The small pool area, complete with loungers and umbrellas, provided a lovely spot to cool off during the day. We found the breakfast to be simple and basic, but perfectly nice and sufficient to start the day. The staff, were exceptionally helpful and welcoming throughout. For anyone seeking a friendly, charming, and convenient base in Sanur that offers excellent value, we would absolutely recommend Villa Puri Ayu as a fantastic economical option.

The walk from the hotel to the beach is via a dark alley, not great.

My home away from home

The breakfast is very good, and freshly made, with both western and Indonesian options. The location is very good, with just a short stroll to the beach, and lots of cafes, shops, bars and restaurants nearby. The staff is awesome, and the hotel is very clean.

The only minus is that the wifi in my room was very, very bad, but it was good everywhere else.

Terrible experience - hotels need to advertise certain rooms are next to loud bars and traffic

I paid a higher price for a deluxe room. I was put into a room that backed onto a very noisy bar that had banging loud music until after 12am including karaoke. People also walked across my verandah to get to their rooms. It was also near to the road. This was absolutely horrendous. They had to move me a couple of times during my four-night stay to try to get me away from this area of the hotel. It was miserable not restful at all. I was unable to sleep properly and was very uncomfortable and disturbed. Rooms like this should not be considered "better" rooms. It should be clear they are in the noisiest part of a hotel. Some people do not mind this. This was untenable to me. Eventually I found another hotel but it was difficult finding anything as very busy time. This was why I was there for a few nights before I could leave, otherwise I would have gone sooner. The manager was fine but when this became a problem he wasn't exactly bending over backwards to help or apologise.

Great pool, great location for walking, quiet, and marvellous breakfast omelettes!. Was a regular guest at Villa Puri Ayu years ago, but haven't been back for nine years. They've expanded and renovated (renovations that were necessary, as it was a bit tired), and it appears to be under new management. Still the quiet little place that we've always loved, walking distance to the beach and lots of yummy places to eat, stumbling distance to many bars if that's your thing, and staff are still super helpful but discrete. If money was no object we'd prefer this place over the fancy beachside resorts nearby. Sanur is a standard destination for mature travellers who want to go for walks, relax by the pool, and have a nice dinner. Not doing myself any favours by advertising how good this place is - it's been a secret spot for returnee guests for decades.

Very comfortable stay. Quiet and peaceful. Pool lovely. Breakfast great. We used the little Senur shuttle bus every day to go places around Senur (buy a card and top up at Indomart or Alfamart). Local restaurants excellent.

Very conveniently located, a lovely shaded outdoor space with pool and plunge pool. Included breakfast was delicious and generous. Staff were wonderful and very helpful.

Great value, simple accommodation.

The price was good value. The beds were comfortable. The staff were friendly and helpful, especially our driver to the airport who told us about the ethos of the hotel 'go green' he was super proud of his workplace.

The stains in the toilet, perhaps because they dont use bleach due to 'go green' approach. The bathroom was odd, no door between it and bedroom. Bit smelly, dark etc. Breakfast area could be improved especially to accomodate more people/tables when the weather is wet. The tiles and breakfast area and bath steps present a significant trip hazard/risk.
