I booked this room for a night. Were were allowed to check-in early and to check-out late without an additional charge. The owner was super friendly to let us extend the room. We arrived with lack of sleep and managed to get a nice nap before climbing the vulcanoe. The room even had a kitchen that was beyond expectation. The room was spacious and the shower very good too.

Location was excellent for accessing the port and town. Supermarket and restaurants in easy walking distance. Room was comfortable and well equipped and able to use a washing machine which was very handy!
We booked and paid for a triple room and were given a double room. Not a huge issue as only 2 of us, but less space than we'd expected. Others have mentioned passports being retained, owners lack of English and no prior communication, but this were minor inconveniences in what was a wonderful stay.

It was very nice to stay at Franco's property. Its like going back to the 70s and a slower way of life. Very homey and old decor, so possibly not for everyone. I found it charming. There is a TV and fridge in the room, however we didn't have use of the kitchen and the TV and WiFi had no signal in the room, you need to walk to the main building if you want WiFi in the room and who cares about watching TV when Stromboli is erupting behind you..
The bathroom was reasonable, could do with a shower door as the room floods if you are not careful with the curtain. The beds are old and rusty but I found it quite comfortable and bouncy..
The location is good, the town is so small all the locations are close together, quite steep if you have trouble waking however.
Regarding the check in, I'd rather Franco didn't take passports as a deposit, it made me feel uncomfortable, as I never part with my passport when traveling I wanted to say no but didn't want to make a scene and Franco was friendly enough, however its a liability I'd rather avoid.
The staff were friendly and the dogs were charming, the view is incredible, the pictures don't do the property justice.

Great location, terrace overlooking volcano, balcony with view of the ocean.
Owner tried to give me a terrible room instead of the one I reserved. It took me over an hour for them to finally give me the room that I reserved.
