    This is the first time me and my fiance went to Hoi An and we are honestly amazed at the layout of the resort as well as the level of service provided. The resort is formerly a silk village of Hoi An, and has been converted to a holiday resort for visitors. Guest are able to stay in refubrished huts, giving us a chance to experience how the villagers lived. The amenities and facilities available are also great, there are three swimming pools, allowing guests staying in different areas to access the nearest swimming pool with ease. The pools are also salt treated instead of using chlorine, which is a plus as it goes along with the natural vibe the resort gives. The spa in the resort is also noteworthy, providing a mix of traditional Vietnamese massage along with more common types of massage such as Thai. In overall, we had a very positive experience in Grand Signature M Village Resort in Hoi An, and we will definitely be returning one day with our friends and family!

    I cannot lie about just how disappointing our experience here was. I recognise our experience was probably a one-off, but it honestly felt like a series of unfortunate incidents. The good: 1. The front office manager took our feedback very positively and promised they would improve staff training. She even booked us our Grab to the airport after all the mishaps, which we appreciated. 2. The room and the resort/property itself were genuinely really good and super clean. Kudos to the housekeeping team. The bad / ugly: 1. The lady at check-in seemed thoroughly disinterested. I asked what activities they had that day, and her response was, “I don’t really remember.” And that was that. We didn’t feel warmly welcomed at all. But we let it slide… anyone can have a busy day. 2. The support staff does not seem to know even functional English, especially the bellboys and the men driving the golf carts. This caused huge confusion during checkout. The staff who came to collect our bags took only half our luggage to the lobby - 2 out of 4 bags - while we were getting late for our flight. The front desk was then unable to understand what we were asking for or what had gone wrong. Finally, after 20 minutes of waiting and frantic calling, someone came back with a cart. 3. This was the nail in the coffin: there was no electricity from 9:30 am onwards on the morning of our checkout. And the worst part was that the water also stopped in the hotel room. My friend had to go the common washroom of the spa to brush her teeth and wash her face, and we couldn’t even shower that morning. 4. Later, the manager told me the electricity outage was actually planned from 9:30 am to 11:30 am, which made it even more upsetting because no one had informed us in advance. The plumbing issue was unexpected, apparently. All in all: does the hotel have potential? Yes. Did we have a horrible, horrible time? Also yes. Am I willing to give it another shot? I’ll think about it in a few months when I come back to Vietnam. Right now, it was just very sad and frustrating. But given how beautiful the property and rooms were, let’s see how the hotel handles this feedback, and I’ll decide.
