Casa di Emanuela

Our apartment was spacious and characterful, filled with the host’s family mementos. It is an old Italian style property which we prefer to a modern, sterile hotel. It was situated at the bottom of the hill rising up to the lovely town of Spello which offered a good station for investigating many Umbrian towns. Our bed was comfortable and the shower forceful. Unloading the car was not at all difficult as we were able to temporarily stop nearby to unload and our host was so very kind to help us with luggage which really was quite heavy. From there we were shown to a free carpark only 10 minutes walk from the apartment. We had remaining items which we left in the car and for not one moment did we feel that we were taking a risk. We feel our host is very genuine and will offer help whenever it may be needed. A very kind man.

Unfortunately for us we were in Umbria during a heatwave with temperatures heading towards 40 degrees with night temperatures around 30 degrees. Our host explained that he is not allowed to install air conditioning due to the property being in the old town so his hands are tied in that regard. We had only one table fan which sadly was not enough to allow us to sleep in such heat. We also had a problem with some sort of midge type insects as the windows were not screened and, although such insects don’t normally bother me, I was a prime target for them at night time and the bites rose to welts which have taken over a week to subside. Had there not been a heatwave I imagine there to be none of these problems that we encountered. Just bad luck for us!

Een prachtig, zeer stijlvol appartement! Gelegen in het historische centrum van Spello. We konden evengoed (kort) vlakbij parkeren om uit te laden waarna de zeer vriendelijke eigenaar Claudio ons naar een dichtbij gelegen (gratis) parkeerterrein bracht, top!

Die Wohnung ist groß und schön und sehr geschmackvoll eingerichtet. Es gibt WLAN, Kaffee-Kapselmaschine, Spülmaschine und auch sonst eine super ausgestattete Küche. Der Kontakt zu den Gastgebern war nett und unkompliziert. Die Lage in der unteren Altstadt ist super für Besichtigungen der Kirchen, der Villa mit den Mosaiken, für Spaziergänge durch die Altstadt und zum Essengehen.
