Julia's River Camp exceeded every expectation. What sets this camp apart is its location — it's actually situated inside the Masai Mara National Reserve, next to the river. The tents were comfortable and the staff were welcoming, attentive, and clearly passionate. Between the incredible game drives, the riverside setting, and that unforgettable nighttime leopard sightings from the camp, Julia's River Camp delivered an authentic, front-row experience of the Mara. I'd recommend it without hesitation to anyone looking for a camp that puts you truly inside the wilderness, not just near it.
One area for improvement is the food — the menu selection was very limited

We spend 3 nights at Julia’s river camp and it truly was an amazing experience. The staff are so kind, helpful and welcoming. Upon arrival we were lucky enough to get a free upgrade to the VIP camp. The tent was spacious and clean. At night you can hear the sounds of the wildlife around you, most often the hippo’s, which live right next to camp, but we have also heard hyena’s, monkeys and even lions! Since the animals can come into the park as well there is security day and night, and in the dark we got escorted by security for our protection. We felt entirely safe. The security is also very friendly and always up for conversation. The food tasted amazing every day, so flavorful and fresh. For breakfast you can order almost anything you want or request a picnic in the wild during your game drive. Lunches are three course meals and dinners are buffets. The staff were all extremely nice and attentive. On our last night all the staff including security performed a traditional song and dance to show appreciation for us staying with them. Truly a wonderful experience. Our safari guide Leo was amazing as well, such a kind spirit. The camp uses open vehicles so you have an unobstructed view and can feel the fresh air. They are much more comfortable than the cars most of the other camps use. Leo took us on long game drives where he managed to find every single animal we wanted to see, and since the camp is located inside the conservation, we can stay out until 7pm instead of 6pm! The roads are quite bumpy, but he somehow managed to make the ride feel smooth every time. He was also very knowledgeable about the animals and could even tell us the names of the leopards we found. When we showed interest in wanting to go for a hot air balloon ride, he helped book one for us. It was amazing to see how passionate he is about his work. If we came across any litter during the drive (which thankfully there is very little), he would stop to collect it, which is very admirable.
