Springfield Guesthouse

Guest house was clean and tidy. We had a very nice double ensuit room that was warm and cosy. Breakfast was continental and very nice with a good selection to choose from. Jacqui was an excellent host, friendly and helpful. I can wholeheartedly recommend The Springfield, Tain

There wasn't anything not to like.

Lovely, easy to get to when approaching from the road going around the village, passing the supermarket (Lidl) some 300 meters away. Parking right at the entrance door. Older house, well kept and very clean overall. Check-in via well placed guest paper with key (= find your room which was easy to do): True B&B with owners close by. Room was surprisingly spacious with modernized bathroom, totally sufficient in size. Beds very comfy for our taste, firm but comfortable. Breakfast was included. No fridge, which overall in relation to location and limited choices for food can be a bit challenging. As for location: main road into town. Not a super busy street but walk into the village is not the nicest one, walking along the road. Choice of places to eat in the little town is quite limited, which is to be expected, but one spot that we went to was clearly overprized and way too pretentious.

Selection at breakfast was very limited. Toast, some jam, butter, oatmeal. Baby-bel, plastic-wrapped cheddar. Coffee, milk, apple and orange juice. While this is all fine we would have liked to at least have the option to order, for instance, some type of egg. Nothing fancy, but that option was not there, but we also didn't ask, honestly. And the exact amount of plates available as persons present/expected seems a bit overly strict, especially if the plate is a bit banged up and not clean as other people seem to have somehow used them. Was no problem to get two other ones but still, leaves a strange feeling.

Best place we had slept in Scotland. Wonderful taste of decoration, stunning view from the room . Delicious Breakfast and lovely staff

was supposed to be in room 2 on ground floor but shower door broke so was put in room 4 which to be honest had a better view, room was big but only one radiator so room was cold, turned radiator up to full and heated towel rail in bathroom woke up around 6 to a freezing cold room and bathroom as heating was off during the night both radiators were cold must have been on a timer but not good for guests when it was snowing and freezing outside so cold that the front drive was covered in ice and snow so had to park on road so they knew the weather was bad should have had the heating on during the night and only got a continental breakfast in a cold room
