Ukholo Lodge is amazing, the best lodge we have stayed at. Owner and Chef Benjamin Thompson's attention to detail is outstanding. The lodge, recently fully renovated and furnished echoing the hues of the Cedeberg Mountains in the distance over the valley of which it looks, provides the perfect overnight stop. Well located on N7 overlooks Citrusdal with easy access on paved driveway Both the breakfast and dinner are specially curated by the chef and presented reflecting a true labor of love and passion to serve his guests. The lounge area and roaring fireplace with wafts of the chefs talents preparing the meal provided an ideal rest and appreciation of this special lodge

Staff were friendly, made us feel very welcome and at home, Free Wifi worked, though I never checked speed. Location was on my journey on the N7 and easy to access despite the current roadworks. Setting in a farmhouse gave a country feel. Awesome breakfast which was included in the price. The price appears competitive for the region on a short notice booking. Staff kindly provided ice for us to have cool drink in our room. Fan was in the room to compensate for no aircon. There are 2 working USB charger ports near the bed. Owner kindly refrigerated our insulin overnight.
Property appears generally run down and could appear nicer with small paint touch ups and minor TLC. No aircon, the fan doesn't make the room comfortable enough and I have had aircon in lower priced establishments. No bin in the room or bathroom. No regular coffee, only decaf, we also had to use our own milk. No hot water when we wanted: We started running a bath which ran terribly slowly, only to find out the water was totally cold on both taps, we had to complain and the staff said "oh the geyser is off", then we had to wait for geyser to heat up then run a very slow bath an hour later. The owner's children played noisily at their pool and on the lawn, which our room directly faced, left clothes and shoes all over the place, made the grounds appear untidy. Owner has small dogs which are noisy and pesty. one of the dogs begs for food at the table. Supper is overpriced at R250 per head, I would pay less than half: Though presentation is good, portions are small and both the chicken and the fish were very dry, only good thing was the wedges. In retrospect I would rather have brought my own supper to barbeque by buying meat and salads in nearby town or gone to eat out!
