Perfect stay in Pemuteran for snorkeling and diving passionate

We had a wonderful time staying at Cathrin's place. The accomodation is a reflection of her beauty, from the inside and outside too. You can tell she poured her heart and soul into making it a home away from home for all guests. The energy and the vibes of the place are amazing. Thank you again to the whole team for everything!

There is nothing to report really, but if I really have to comment on something, it would be about the bamboo shower, not really a city girl like me best friend.

A piece of heaven.…

This was a lovely find! The place is lovely, super comfortable, clean and well decorated. The staff is the best, they go above af beyond to make your stay comfortable. Pemuteran still hold a feel of authenticity, this guesthouse helped to enjoy every bit of it. I will definitely come back!

The place to be in Pemuteran!!

We loved our Stay in Kuda Laut bungalows. The place is a piece of Heaven! The large garden is beautiful and calls you to relax along the pool or in a hammock! Don’t miss to smell the flowers. The bungalows are stunning, very large and cristal clean. I loved to read at night at the open-air living room. Katrin was an exceptional host, she likes to take time to really welcome her guests and to discuss with them. She was very helpful to answer to all our questions and has helped a lot to organize our trip to Kawah Ijen and our Taxi transfers. Diving with her was also a great moment. And a final word for all the staff that was incredibly friendly and that has made our stay so enjoyable!

Quaint little boutique ‘resort’ with great diving!

Wonderful small resort with wonderful hosts! Loved our bungalow as well as the pool area. Close to the beach as well as the main part of the village. We also enjoyed the diving, especially Menjangan (Permuteran is great for nudies and critters!!). We will come back for sure!

Magical

Kuda Laut exceeded our expectations. We were very sad to leave at the end of our stay. It has 4 spacious and comfortable bungalows (we took up 2 of them), a beautiful garden full of trees, a lovely pool (which can also be used for diving practice) and large communal restaurant area. Cathrin has created a magical space and it’s impossible not to relax here. Her staff are also lovely and will help with anything. You instantly feel like part of the Kuda Laut family. The beach is a short walk away and so is the main street with a wide choice of restaurants (go to Warung Manis, a short walk away - the food is amazing). Cathrin can also organise guided diving, diving tuition, snorkel trips (eg to Menjangan), dolphin watching etc. Her local knowledge is detailed and she has high standards - so if she recommends something I would feel very comfortable going with it.

No downsides for us. It’s a small but beautiful resort close to the beach and the main street. If you want a bigger resort that is closer to the beach there are other (more generic) options. If you want a super chilled and more unique experience I would recommend Kuda Laut.

great location for diving

nice bungalow with 2 floors, in a beautiful garden. nice and amazingly clean pool. an on-prem. dive center run with the precision of a Swiss watch. food is also nice: a breakfast with many options; they also provide a simple but very tasty lunch after diving. the location is on a quiet street; it gets really dark at night, but don't worry and just put your scuba light to work on land.

Kuda Laut: A Bali gem for villa comfort, beachside relaxation, and snorkeling adventures.

We had the pleasure of staying three nights at Kuda Laut (Sea Horse) in Permuteran, owned by the lovely lady Cathrin. This boutique hotel offers four stunning villas that truly impressed me. The highlight of the villa was the spacious living room on the second floor, complete with a ventilator that made it a delightful space to relax. The bedroom itself featured extremely comfortable beds and efficient air conditioning, ensuring a restful, quiet night's sleep. What truly stood out during our stay was the warm and welcoming staff who went above and beyond to make us feel at home. Their hospitality added an extra layer of comfort to our stay. The property's location is a short walk away from the beach, where we discovered the laid-back Jamaican-style bar, Turbo Bar. Here, we enjoyed a mouthwatering Mahi Mahi fish dish, which can be pre-ordered for the next day and expertly prepared on the BBQ. This delicious meal, complete with rice and vegetables, was a steal at 80,000 IDR per person. Cathrin's passion for diving shines through, and we decided to book with her a snorkeling boat trip to Menjangang Island, named after its inhabitants, the deer. The excursion was impeccably organized by Cathrin and included everything we needed, from shoes and wetsuits to top-notch snorkeling gear. Our journey was made even more enjoyable by the company of Captain Kadeh and snorkeling master Harry, who made the experience memorable. In conclusion, we highly recommend Kuda Laut for its outstanding accommodations, attentive staff, and the opportunity to explore the natural beauty of the area through activities like snorkeling.

Amazing resort!

The quiet location but still so close to the beach and village, the clean and beautiful luxurieus houses, the pretty resort, the pool, the hammocks, the lovely owner, the helpful amazing staff: it all really felt like a paradise for us ❤️ The diving is very professionally arranged! Cathrin (owner) and Yoshua (and really good additional dive instructors) accomodate both starting as well as very experienced scuba and freedivers. As starting divers we were very happy to get more experience here and be in such good hands to learn to be better divers. We had some amazing dives both near Menjangan and Pemuteran! We would definetely love to come back here!

Relaxing stay in peaceful location close to beach.

Catherin and Joshua are great hosts, they provided a warm welcome to this tranquil haven after a chaotic few days in Java. From the moment we booked, Catherin responded in detail to all our questions about travel plus tips for things to do and where to eat. The bungalows are very clean and comfortable, with added benefit of a relaxed seating area open to nature above, and outdoor bathrooms. It was enjoyable lying in the hammocks dotted around the garden, by the pretty pool or chatting with the hosts/other guests in the common area. Breakfast was delicious, and great flexibility with timing, added bonus of honesty bar for soft drinks/ chocolate which suited our teenagers! Well located a few minutes walk to beach and also close to a number of restaurants. We had a great trip snorkelling which Catherin organised for us ( with equipment available throughout our stay) also available are a range of SCUBA activities.

When you walk through the gate it is like walking into a botanical garden. Fabulous grounds, a great pool and lovely villas. Cathryn, Yoshua & the rest of the staff went out of their way to make us feel welcome & at home. They provided us with free snorkelling gear (and umbrellas when it rained) and gave us recommendations for local walks

No negatives, just facts. The road to the property is currently unsealed so bring good shoes & a torch if you plan to go out out at night to eat at one of the local warungs.

Fabulously peaceful, well-equipped and friendly place

Fantastic place - even better than the photos. Cathrin and Joshua were super friendly and helpful with lots of useful information on the area and a great welcoming experience for guests. It's evidently a great place if you are a diver/snorkeller - I am not but I still loved it. I really enjoyed doing yoga and reading on the upstairs terrace and going hiking in the surrounding hills. The facilities are brilliant, down to the little important details - e.g. good AC, proper hairdryer, lots of conveniently located plug sockets. The decor is also lovely and the rooms are super clean. I would love to go back!

Fantastic people and great accomodation at a peaceful location.

We had a fantastic stay at Kuda Laut. All staff were great and so kind. Cathrin and Joshua are super nice hosts. We felt very welcome and at home. We made several boat dives with Cathrin and enjoyed the diving trips very much. Everything was very well organized and the knowledge of Cathrin and Joshua was excellent. We learned a lot about the underwater life around Permuteran and Menjangan Island. The bungalow was comfortable and we had a lovely breakfast every day. The garden of Kuda Laut is magnificent and there is also a nice pool. Several excellent local restaurants can be found within walking distance.

Great communication with Cathryn leading up to our stay. As soon as entering the property there is a peaceful, welcoming vibe. Cathryn and Yoshua are great hosts who treat you as friends and are very professional in assisting with snorkeling, scuba or free diving. The location is very close to a quiet beach and we felt very safe. Gusti and rest of the staff were the sweetest.

Exceptional

We walked into an oasis. Beautiful gardens, nice pool area and a warm welcome. Cathrin is a truely wonderful host. My daughter and I had a bungalow each and I found the upstairs loft a perfect retreat for my morning and afternoon pot of tea. In the communal area we could refill our water bottles, use the fridge, eat breakfast or just relax. All Cathrin’s staff are top class. Jerro’s breakfasts are delicious and Gusti is a wonderful host on the afternoon shift. Joshua took us up the hill nearby for some lovely views and sunset shots. Kuda Laut is a short walk to a sandy entry spot or a little further to the Bio dome. Plenty of good eating places nearby and we liked the beach bar at the end of the track! Cathrin organised a wonderful day at Menjangan Island. Best snorkelling of our trip.

Exceptional

We really had a lovely time staying at Kuda Laut Bungalows. It has a lovely relaxed and homely feel. It has a beautifully maintained garden and pool area, and with only four bungalows, it never feels busy, and no silly time restrictions means a midnight dip in the pool is perfect if you can't sleep! The bungalows are spotlessly clean. We felt they were also designed really well, as you have a lovely private seating upstairs where you can watch the rain and feel connected to the outside, but then a separate air-conditioned bedroom. The owner, Catherine, and her staff are all incredibly friendly and helpful. We also liked that Catherine is involved with others in the community to help reduce plastic waste entering the waterways (we also appreciated not having to buy any bottled while staying there!) and raising awareness about the coral reef project found just off the shore (you can snorkel around it). I also did four dives with Catherine and had a great time exploring the beautiful coral reefs. Catherine has a lot of knowledge and we appreciated her sharing this with us. We recommend this place if you want all the creature comforts like a resort, but want a more homely and relaxed feeling of a guesthouse. Thanks for a great stay Catherine!

Cathrin, her staff and Kuda Laut is absolutely amazing. Her attention to detail and love for the macro while diving is contagious. We were meant to stay 3 days and stayed 6, well worth the trip. The bungalows are private and quiet, a perfect escape.

Chilled & Comfortable place to seek adventure from.

Refillable fresh water station that reduced our plastic use significantly. More properties should do adopt this idea. Exceptional dive guide/host (Katerina) with a keen eye for finding unique, unusual and very small marine life and creatures. Staff all very very friendly and helpful. The room had plenty of space and was designed with a lot of care and attention.

Leuke huisjes, fijne duikschool ook voor beginners.

Kleinschalig. Combinatie met duikschool. Introductieduik super. Snorkeltrip ook goed geregeld. Lekker vers ontbijt. Fijn dat je ook drinken uit koelkast kon pakken en later betalen waardoor je niet naar supermarkt hoeft. Restaurantjes lopend te bereiken.

Wel wat prijzig vergeleken met andere locaties maar het was wel goed.

Super mooi aangekleed, hele gastvrije en aardige mensen, geen vraag is te veel. Duiken is er supermooi en kregen een prive gids mee (Hori) en is ook een aanrader. Was echt top !!

Un petit paradis !!!

Un petit paradis, un accueil parfait et la gentillesse de la part de Catherine et son personnel. La surprise du gâteau d’anniversaire le jour même. Le petit déjeuner parfait, la décoration des Bungalows, la tranquillité des lieux et la proximité des restaurants ainsi que le prêt gratuit des vélos.

Heerlijk relaxte accommodatie en superduikadres

Kuda Laut heeft een geweldige tuin met zwembad en heeft een relaxte, rustige sfeer. De bungalows zijn met veel smaak ingericht. Vooral de badkamer buiten is fantastisch. De bedden liggen goed. Het personeel is vriendelijk. Ook zonder duik- of snorkelambities is het hier goed toeven. Onze dochter heeft onder begeleiding van Cathrin de 4 duiken in open water gemaakt (die nodig waren om het duikbrevet te halen). Cathrin is een geweldige instructeur met heel erg veel ervaring, met wie mijn dochter met veel plezier dook. Ze heeft veel verstand van de onderwaterwereld. De rest van het gezin had het heel erg getroffen met divemaster Eped. De duiken waren goed verzorgd. We hebben het heel fijn gehad bij Kuda Laut.

Magnifique !

Super endroit avec des bungalows très propres et très jolis !! Il n’y a pas énormément d’habitations donc c’est très appréciable d’être tranquille à la piscine. Le jardin est magnifique et tout est à proximité à pied (plage, restos, hôtels avec de beaux équipements sur la plage pour y manger le soir par exemple,...). Catherine est très gentille et propose ses services pour des activités ou encore des transports taxi. Harry qui fait parti du personnel a été TOP, un grand merci à lui qui était à nos petits soins durant notre sejour !! Moi et mon chéri validons ce bel endroit pour un séjour en amoureux 🥰

Peut-être à noter que les prix des activités peuvent être un peu moins cher en passant par des locaux ou personnes rencontrées hors de l’hébergement... mais l’avantage avec Catherine c’est qu’elle s’occupe de tout 👍

Gros coup de cœur

Le personnel est vraiment adorable, la propriétaire Cathrin est très sympa, les lodges sont magnifiques et le terrain l’est tout autant. Proximité quasi immédiate avec la mer, jolie piscine, ambiance et atmosphère très chill. Un vrai coup de cœur!

La beauté du site, l'originalité des bungalows, l'accueil personnalisé et aux petits soins de Catherine propriétaire et du personnel, très souriant et bienveillant. Heerlijke kleinschalige accommodatie. Rustig gelegen, mooi zwembad, uitstekende snorkeltrip verzorgd via Cathrin die ons overal mee hielp en van tips voorzag. In het straatje op de hoek een uitstekende warung.

Verborgen parel in een authentieke omgeving.

Heel leuk, kleinschalig, complex met vier bungalows. De bungalows zijn gesitueerd in een prachtige tuin met een mooi aangelegd zwembad. De gehele ambiance doet heel relaxed aan, mede door de kleinschaligheid en door het vriendelijke en service gerichte personeel. Cathryn is als eigenaresse heel goed instaat geweest om een 'thuis' gevoel te creeeren. Wij komen zeker nog eens terug.
