Relais Borgo Torale

My wife and I stayed at Relais Borgo Torale for five nights at the beginning of July 2026, and it exceeded every expectation. Book it now, we can’t recommend it highly enough. The setting is breathtaking. Perched on the hillside overlooking Lake Trasimeno, the panoramic views are incredible, especially from the beautiful communal seating area at the front of the property. The olive tree-lined driveway and gardens are beautiful, and the stone buildings date back to 1660. The whole place gave us a sense of peace and tranquility, with the hum of the cicadas the only background noise. The apartment itself was spotless and looked exactly as it does in the photos. It was exceptionally well equipped, with excellent cookware, plenty of crockery and cutlery, and everything needed if you wanted to cook. We particularly appreciated the moka pot for making coffee in the morning. Despite temperatures exceeding 30°C during our visit, the apartment remained wonderfully comfortable. The air conditioning kept the bedroom perfectly cool at night, while mosquito screens on every window and traditional shutters meant we could enjoy fresh air without worrying about insects. The pool was also excellent, a great place to wind down for a few hours. The pool is extremely clean, a great size for swimming, and is extremely cool which was perfect given the warm conditions. The location strikes the perfect balance. Although it feels secluded and peaceful, it’s only a five-minute drive to Passignano sul Trasimeno, a charming and welcoming town with some fantastic restaurants. We particularly loved Osteria Il Carro and Osteria Cuore di Mamma. Relais Borgo Torale also made the perfect base for exploring both Umbria and Tuscany and we enjoyed memorable day trips to Perugia, Siena, Montepulciano, Cortona and Castiglione del Lago, before returning to Borgo Torale each evening to the peace and quiet overlooking the lake. This was a true highlight of our trip, watching the sunset from the Torale.
