Playa Bluff Lodge

Choco and all staff were amazing, from grounds to housekeeping and chef. All were very accommodating and responsive. Location of room was great since we traveled with our pets. We had a ground level room with a patio that we could take the dogs out. Pool was lovely, grounds were beautiful.

Location of the hotel - nothing to be done about that but the road to the hotel is unpaved and very bumpy and lots of water holes to go through to get there.

My stay at Playa Bluff Lodge was absolutely incredible. From the moment I arrived, the staff made me feel welcomed and taken care of. Everyone was friendly, attentive, and genuinely seemed to care about making sure guests had the best possible experience. The rooms were beautiful and comfortable, surrounded by lush jungle and just steps away from the beach. Waking up to the sound of the ocean and wildlife made the whole experience feel peaceful and unique. Everything was clean, well maintained, and thoughtfully designed so you could relax and enjoy the natural beauty of the area. The restaurant was another highlight. The food was fresh and delicious, with great options and a relaxing atmosphere that made every meal something to look forward to. Being able to enjoy great food while overlooking the beach made it even better. What really made Playa Bluff Lodge special, though, was the overall atmosphere. It felt like the perfect mix of nature, comfort, and hospitality. Whether relaxing by the beach, exploring the jungle, or just enjoying the peaceful surroundings, it was an unforgettable stay. I would absolutely recommend Playa Bluff Lodge to anyone looking for a beautiful and relaxing place to stay.

Honestly, there wasn’t anything I didn’t like about my stay. Everything from the staff to the rooms, the restaurant, and the beautiful surroundings exceeded my expectations. The team was welcoming and attentive, the accommodations were comfortable and well maintained, and the food was excellent. It’s rare to find a place where every part of the experience feels so thoughtfully done. My stay was relaxing, memorable, and I would happily return again.

The garden and grounds are very pleasant and well maintained. The regular hotel rooms are much more comfortable than the loft. After our first difficult night, Leonela, the manager, moved us to two regular rooms and our experience improved considerably. Special mention to Leonela for finding a solution and to Choko, who was very kind, helpful and welcoming throughout our stay.

Our first night in the loft was very disappointing. The mattresses were extremely uncomfortable and we could clearly feel the springs, making sleeping painful. There was also a very strong chemical/mosquito-repellent smell, and we all woke up with headaches. We also noticed a strange white liquid coming up from the floor. Staff were aware of the issue and attempted to clean it, but from their reaction we understood this was not a new problem. We also experienced water and electricity shortages on three consecutive days, which significantly affected our stay. The location should also be considered carefully. Although the property is by the sea, the beach was not suitable for swimming during our stay. Going into town takes around 30 minutes by bus and costs $3.50 each way per person, which adds time and cost. Considering the price we paid, we expected a better overall experience.
