Hotel Alpenrose beim Ballenberg

Nice stay, quiet and comfy. Good and tasty Breakfast. Not very big, small amount of stuff, but enough for us. Basics covered.

I recommend this delightful family owned and operated hotel with all my heart. The staff are kind and caring. The location is wonderful for the view and for it being a bit away from the hum of tourists around the shops and the station. The hotel has a good breakfast and the half board option( breakfast and dinner) is a very good deal. Meals are taken in the cozy dining room, where each course at dinner is served by the waitstaff, like a real restaurant. Guests meet and greet at meals and get to know each other over the several days of their stays. The chance to chat and share coffee in the sitting room gives the hotel a very old time civilized feel. There is a wonderful walk one can take out into the nearby hills with outstanding Mountain View’s , green pastures all around and birdsong and cowbells to make you feel like you are in a dream.

It is a bit of a steep climb up to the station when you head out on your alpine sightseeing adventures.

The hotel is well situated in a quiet area at walking distance from the Ballenberg museum. The dining room looks quite nice and the dining buffet was good.

The dining room is noisy. The mattrass was bad. Our room stituated right under the roof had its floor trembling all the time the kitchen ventilator was switched on.
