East Surf Cabana

Just spent 3 nights in this beautiful place. Location just 10 minutes walk from the busy part of Arugam bay - easy walk to many cafes and restaurants but very peaceful. Extremely friendly staff and loved our chats and laughs with the owner Raffaela . Accommodation is perfect with very comfy beds (with mosquito nets) , small fridge and good A/c. Very delicious breakfast with lots of choice. Highly recommend the home made granola with fruit and curd which set us up for a day on the beach / surfing. Also highly recommend doing the evening bbq offered which was one of our highlights- we saw more wildlife ( crocs, elephants, water monitors, buffaloes than on our safari to Kumana national park. Shame we couldn’t stay longer

La habitación es muy amplia y el baño increíble, con una preciosa ducha exterior. El desayuno nos gustó mucho, con varias opciones para elegir. La ubicación es muy buena, porque está muy cerca del pueblo y de la playa pero sin el bullicio y ruido del centro.

Las cortinas de la habitación llegan solo a media altura de las ventanas, por lo que no hay mucha privacidad. Se trata de un bungalow por lo que no supone un gran problema, pero aun así habría preferido otro tipo de cortinas.

De atmosfeer en de lieve mensen

Facilities are very nice and decoration is great! Breakfast was also very good. Staff helped us get takeaway dinner.

We stayed with East Cabanas at the end of the low season. Unfortunately Arugam Bay seemed like a ghost town.. restaurants were closed, beaches were unsafe due to crocodiles (bay was open). Additionally, the East Surf Cabanas itself was in a construction and renovation period also. Arugam bay wasn’t meeting our expectations. Due to this, we opt to change plans, and just stay one night in Arugam Bay, instead of two. The staff was inflexible and we were charged both nights instead of just one. We were expecting East Surf Cabanas would be more flexible, as we were absolutely puzzled with the overall disappointing environment of Arugam.
