Stay Golden

I spend hours researching where to stay in Arugam Bay before coming - reading all reviews, checking pics etc etc. So let me save you the time! My family stayed for 3 nights and returned for another night a few days later. Can’t recommend this place more; - a short tuk tuk ride for small price to down means it js always quiet and perfect for families to chill in the evening away from parties (unlike place in town which was SO loud all night with music, fireworks nearby etc. - pool is epic and kids played for hrs there - food was great (chicken was really good quality also) and i recommend the guacamole with papadams for a yummy snack! - staff and owners were so lovely and friendly, arranged transport, gave recommendations and welcomed us back the second time - rooms had all the toiletries you need and were clean and cool with A/C. Kids particularly liked the family room with the double bunks the second stay so there were no fights for who got the top bunk! 🤣 Overall really think this is great! Thanks guys for having us (twice!)

I should note that the beach directly out front can be dangerous for swimming so stick to pool or go to main beach.

We spent four nights at Stay Golden in July, and without a doubt it was the highlight of our trip to Sri Lanka. We were a group of seven staying across three rooms, and every one of us agreed that these four days of relaxation were our favourite part of the holiday. The atmosphere at Stay Golden is incredibly chilled, welcoming and laid-back, making it the perfect place to slow down and unwind. The rooms were comfortable, clean and had everything we needed. The food deserves a special mention—it was absolutely exceptional. Every meal was fresh, delicious and something we genuinely looked forward to. The kids had an amazing time at the surf school, while two members of our group loved finishing each day with the yoga classes. There really is something for everyone, whether you're looking for adventure or simply a place to relax. The staff created such a warm and friendly environment that it was hard to leave. We left feeling refreshed and already talking about when we can come back. Stay Golden is a truly special place, and we wouldn't hesitate to recommend it to anyone visiting Sri Lanka.

Kind staff. Yummy food. Clean rooms. Pool. Sound healing and yoga classes onsite.

The only small recommendation would be for the length of bed to be bigger as I am 6 ft. Comfortable bed but just a little too short. Not a big thing though.

Location (close to town center but without the noise, close to beginner surf spot), staff, possibility to rent a scooter, surf equipment available, free sun-beds on the beach

The AC didn’t work properly the entire stay, electricity unstable, restaurant not tasty, late cleaning of the rooms (4pm)
