No.5 Valley Lodge

Everything was perfect, specially the staff Rain and Felix were super nice 🙂 fully recommend it

We stayed here as part of our honeymoon in China, and honestly, this was one of the best parts of our entire trip. We couldn’t have asked for better service from the moment we arrived. A special mention has to go to Olivia, who was absolutely wonderful throughout our stay. She went above and beyond to make our honeymoon feel special. Our room had been beautifully decorated with balloons and little touches, and we were even given a complimentary bottle of wine with dinner — such a lovely surprise! Check-in and the whole stay were completely smooth, the beds were incredibly comfortable, and the staff were always so friendly and helpful. They helped us organise tickets for the different attractions in Zhangjiajie National Park, which made everything so much easier. The pick-up and drop-off service was also incredibly convenient and took away so much of the stress of getting around. The food in the restaurant was fantastic, and breakfast was great too — we genuinely looked forward to eating there. Overall, this hotel exceeded our expectations in every way. The service, location, comfort and little touches made such a difference, and it really felt like the staff cared about making our stay memorable. 10/10 without a doubt one of the highlights of our trip. We couldn’t recommend this hotel enough and really hope we get the chance to return one day!

There was nothing we didn’t like!

There were some things we genuinely loved about our stay at No. 5 Valley Lodge. The staff were kind and welcoming. They arranged a private tour of Zhangjiajie National Forest Park for us with an excellent guide, which turned out to be one of the highlights of our trip. They also organised our transfer from Zhangjiajie West railway station, althought it was more expensive than taking a Didi. The food at the lodge was also surprisingly good. We had several excellent dishes and really enjoyed dinners there.

Unfortunately, the room itself was a major disappointment and did not live up to our expectations, especially considering the way the property is presented and priced. The mattress was badly sagging and very uncomfortable. There was extremely high humidity inside the room that we could not get rid of, even with the air conditioning running. The air-conditioning system itself felt old and inefficient, while the bathroom had no proper ventilation. Soundproofing was also poor, so overall we did not sleep or rest particularly well. We had chosen No. 5 Valley Lodge expecting a peaceful, comfortable and somewhat romantic stay surrounded by nature. While the setting is lovely, the condition and comfort of the room unfortunately made the experience feel anything but romantic or relaxing. With better maintenance, improved ventilation and air conditioning, proper soundproofing and, above all, a good mattress, this could be a wonderful place to stay.

The staff were very helpful and friendly!

The property is very outdated! It really really needs a revamp. It if in a very rural area and there hasn’t been any maintenance to much of it in a long time. I would recommend staying in one of the villa’s as the other rooms where more like backpackers lodge. No view, very grim and didn’t feel comfortable at all. When I booked an upgrade I got a really lovely room with incredible views. So go straight for a nice big room.
