Mahaweli View Bungalow

I’ve stayed here a couple of times now and I love this place. It’s a a large property with a huge and well maintained garden so it feels very spacious. There are comfortable common areas inside and out to relax and enjoy the day. Large dining table for eating meals and comfortable chairs for lounging. Rooms are clean and basic with fans. Everything you need. Downstairs there is also a communal shared kitchen. The location of the property is in a peaceful residential neighbourhood on the banks of the river. It is close to the main road but far enough away to be very quiet and serene. There is an easy and frequent bus route to Kandy with buses running every 5 minutes from the main road. Journey time is about 15 minutes. The caretaker Wickrama is a lovely person who is kind and considerate to all your needs. The owner Gihan is also warm, friendly and very welcoming. These two gentlemen help to make this a wonderful place to stay.

Shared kitchen needs a very good deep clean and then regular cleaning thereafter.

Overall, the place was good. The room was comfortable, and the bathroom was moderately clean. The caretaker was also helpful

The road leading to the place was a bit difficult. The final part of the road has a narrow bend, which makes it hard to turn a car, especially at night. One of the beds in the family room was not clean enough, as it had hair that appeared to be from a previous guest. The washroom had the same issue, with hair visible in several places. Another concern was that there was a power cut during the night. Unfortunately, there was no proper alternative lighting provided except for a candle that was already more than halfway burnt. This was quite concerning because being in an unfamiliar place and room, suddenly left in complete darkness about 30 minutes after arriving, was very uncomfortable

The property itself is beautiful - the surroundings were beautiful, facilities were ok and the place was in a good location. Perfect for a peaceful getaway.

The only feedback I have is around the caretaker. He was lovely however I felt he was quite loud on the phone in the main areas of the house - I often woke up due to him speaking or the phone ringing, loud message tones - this was a disruption to the peace I was looking for. It would have also been good to know that the wifi was limited to 6:00pm-10am prior to the booking as having access to wifi throughout would have been helpful for work etc.
