Whitethorn Bed and Breakfast

We had a little visit from Casper the Dalmatian and he was so friendly. The staff were friendly and the breakfast was delicious. The family suite was great as the kids were in the other room!

I had a bath at about 2pm and there wasn't much hot water.

Efficient B & B and we had no concerns. Friendly staff and breakfast was very good.

After the first night, we changed rooms, and the second room was far bigger and far more comfortable.

We arrived in the evening and let ourselves into the building as per instructions. There was nobody to greet us, and a form had been left for us to complete regarding our stay and breakfast. The owner came through and was not particularly welcoming and appeared to wish to return to a TV programme. We were left in the hallway to find our own room, which was upstairs. It felt awkward to simply walk into a building we were unfamiliar with and to walk upstairs looking for the appropriate room. Over breakfast, there was similar treatment from another member of staff. They were minimally friendly but very business-like, and they did slightly improve as our stay went on. The rooms were not replenished, so items such as water and milk were not replenished. Dirty cups from previous nights were still left in the room. We witnessed another guest being spoken to quite abruptly as they had not completed a breakfast form. This was embarrassing for her and us as observers. The breakfast itself was very good, and the portions very generous. On one occasion, we had completed a breakfast form. However, on the following day, this had not been communicated to a new member of staff, which led to a little bit of awkwardness. This lady was lovely, and nothing was too much for her. On our last day, we were greeted by a member of staff and an elderly lady. She was wonderful and friendly, and everything that the other members of staff should have been. She explained that she only covers every now and again. However, this lady gave the best impression about the building and services offered. One evening, due to feeling unwell, I wanted a hot drink, and milk had not been provided in the room. I contacted the owner. However, due to poor signal, the messages were not getting through. We'll definitely start this properly again, but there seems to be a distinctly cold atmosphere. If we did ask for anything, the owner was forthcoming and obliging.

It's a nice place to stay, not a 5* place but relaxing and quiet with a wonderful breakfast.

The bathroom floor was in need of a good mop, and more hangers in the wardrobes.
