Lovely bedroom. Very Edwardian. Quirky place full of character. Nice touch to leave real milk to take up to your room. Appreciated the snacks. Nice bathroom towels.
Struggled to work out how to get in. It’s self serve so no one is there to greet you. We did speak to Josh on the intercom to help us get in but it was confusing despite the pre instruction - maybe do a picture guide to help people. It’s strange having no one there. Nice touch having music downstairs or it would have felt dead. The TV didn’t work in the room. No working bar to get drinks.

The bed was so comfortable and the room had a wonderful view of the river
Couldn’t order drinks from the bar

Right in the centre of Matlock bath. First floor room "Bretby" was lovely, really spacious, beautifully furnished and comfortable.
Not really a hotel & restaurant any more, fully self service with no staff in evidence. More of an air BNB (without the breakfast) Really good Comms from the owner but I have to say given the sign and description I had expected a functioning hotel and restaurant.

Quirky decor, surprisingly comfortable bed. Large room and big shower.
Staff attitudes were pretty poor, but they were overall helpful.
