We were made to feel welcome even with 2 large dogs. There was a water bowl, treats and poo bags waiting for us in our room. The food, service, rooms and views were exceptional and we can't wait to return.
The walls were very thin so I could hear other guests coming and going.

Beautiful property in a perfect location
Rooms around the whole hotel were a bit cold.
Could have done with the tea and coffee being replenished and bin in the room emptying

The views from the hotel are amazing- so beautiful and peaceful. The hotel design is old worldy, warm and comfortable. The breakfast was delicious.
We unfortunately got stuck by the snow gate 15minutes from the hotel and the only way to access the hotel if this happens is to take a four hour detour to get there. Not the hotels fault and they were very helpful and waited up until we arrived safely just I think some warning / advice should be mentioned on the website as it was quite a strenuous cross country detour in snow and ice and dark roads.

The Lamont room , although smaller than our original room was warmer ,and bathroom was warm and clean
Our original The Robertson room , bathroom ceiling all mouldy . Bath old and stained . Heating not working in bathroom . Very disappointed. First night , bar area couldn’t sit in as absolutely freezing . As the bar area was so cold, the other parts we could sit in had no music or even a tv. People were desperate to get the seats at the reception area as fire was on . Second night a lot warmer in Lounge area

Excelent location, excelent food
The bathroom was not that warm

Excellent hospitality team, a roaring fire in reception, a great building that felt like we were staying in the traitors castle and lovely food. This was a treat for us, and we were made to feel special. All the staff were attentive and responsive. We intended to choose from the bar menu, but decided last minute to eat in the restaurant and it was lovely.
So it's a castle... castles have some draughty corners. The wing we stayed in (!) was beautiful and well heated, but I wouldn't hang about in its corridor. But let's not over-state this - the rooms were warm and we would definitely book there again.

Nothing its dated and the toilet in our room did not work
As above we left after one nights stay

Dalmunzie Castle Hotel is set in a beautiful landscape surrounded by rolling hills. Despite the rain and high winds, we enjoyed a lovely walk alongside the river. The rooms are very spacious, and the hotel is furnished to a high standard. The staff were extremely helpful, and there are plenty of seating areas around roaring fires, creating a wonderful atmosphere.
The hotel is clearly aiming for high standards, which is reflected in both the service and the restaurant setting. Although the presentation of the food was excellent, it did not quite deliver on taste. We would also have preferred a breakfast buffet. Overall, we felt the experience was somewhat overpriced.

Lovely location, beautifully decorated and maintained with friendly and helpful staff. Loved everything definitely want to stay again. Recommend all the food it was all amazing.
My only criticism would be is that it got a bit cold in the night at one point, we stayed end of January for a skiing trip.

We loved our stay at Dalmunzie Castle and would love to plan another trip to stay there. It is a nice and cozy hotel house, peaceful and secluded with lovely grounds - and a golf course, if you are into that. The staff was extremely friendly. We ate most of our meals in the little restaurant, and the food was very good. We especially liked the brown sugar and shot of Scottish whiskey they added to the porridge - an absolute game changer!
Not sure what could have been better. It is a hotel based in what used to be someone’s home, so anyone looking for a cold and modern freshly renovated hotel experience really should look somewhere else. There was an issue with the old boiler so it was a wee bit cold in our room for a couple of nights, but we preferred that to the indoor sauna we experienced in other locations that cranked up the heat. Besides, there were ample covers so sleeping was not a problem and really just added to the charm of the place. There were plenty of comfortable and quiet sitting areas in the main areas with hot tea or drams of whiskey that kept us more than comfortable.

Beautiful location. Very cosy. Very friendly staff. Very good food. Fantastic place for a get away.
Not so much a dislike as a discovery: this is not a place that caters for stays of more than a few nights. We booked for two weeks. The restaurant menu never changes and is not cheap! We tried to negotiate a discount on food and drink. A small discount on the dinner menu was all we managed. But we were undoubtedly in the minority.

The staff were all fantastic and worked very hard. The food was outstanding, everything was freshly cooked and tasted amazing, compliments to the chef. The room was clean and well appointed.
The wine was a tad over priced, the mark up on each bottle was high. The rest of the alcohol was very well priced, so it was difficult to understand why the wine was so expensive for what it was.

It was smaller than expected but certainly a warm welcome with traditional open fires and a very cosy atmosphere. Staff were great and the facilities too, in keeping with the surroundings so if you want to sample traditional Scottish hospitality, this is the place to stay!! Surrounding countryside is of course awesome!

Not enough milk on beverage tray. Bar meal was disappointing and limited choice.

Superb location. Peaceful with easy access to the hills. Secluded and private. Great night’s sleep. Plenty of character in the building. Staff also superb. Breakfast outstanding- all very high quality and locally sourced. Dinner menu just right.
Nothing. Some may consider the creaks and groans of an old building to be less than ideal but it is what it is!

Comfortable room, cosy Scottish vibe.
The food was expensive and very average for what you’d expect. If the food was good, would have rated higher. Chicken liver pate doesn’t need so much experimentation, just do the classic one! And our fish dish was lukewarm warm and lacked love.

Incredibly beautiful location. Friendly staff. Food very nice. Good beers in bar. Room was very clean , comfortable and spacious. Lovely sitting areas with log fires. Walking routes were superb. A good location for Braemar and Balmoral as well as Pitlochry, Blair and House of Bruar. Very 1920s country house feel. The wildlife is fantastic.
Nothing of note.

Beautiful and isolated location.Great to get away from the hustle and bustle of a town/city.Our room had everything we needed and a lovely view. The four poster bed was comfortable. Decor in match with the building.I did think I might be cold in an old building but the hotel was cosy.
The restaurant was well set out and our meals were very good and beautifully presented . The porridge with the berry compote in the morning was one of the best that I've had .
The shower pressure was slightly low .
No staff about when we arrived for our evening meal .
Otherwise not much to not like
Should have booked at least two nights to appreciate the area more.

Lovely property in a beautiful location in the highlands! Room was spacious and had old world charm. The food was amazing and the service was warm and friendly.

The setting was stunning, we felt so lucky. Huge grounds (perfect for spotting pheasants and deer and hares) to walk - followed by some drinks in a very cozy bar. Wish we stayed here another night. The dinner was delicious and the staff were fab. I think we got a room upgrade which was much appreciated. The decor suits the property.
Nothing - the whole experience felt like a huge treat.

Fantastic location, lovely room and great staff. The breakfast (and dinner) were both amazing. A truly special experience to sleep in a castle.
Not much to not like. Perhaps the water pressure of the shower is a little low and using a shower curtain isn't nice, but that's something you see throughout Scotland.

Dalmunzie Castle is an amazing old country residence with many traditional features maintained. Maintenance and development of such a huge building is inevitably a problem so guests do have to appreciate the historic features and accept the issues associated with a building of this age. Our room was huge and, although the bathroom was a bit dated, it had amazing features like an incredible bath plug (pictured).
Wood burning stoves and many comfortable settees made the public areas very welcoming. The staff were friendly and helpful and the food was excellent. Our dog was also welcomed in all areas except the main restaurant.
The only slight downside was that, because it is a working farm, our dog had to remain on a lead when outdoors.

This is a place to stay if you want to stay at the property and do some hiking. It is not within walking distance of any town or nightlife.

Breakfast: very attentive servers, food was good quality
Property: the location and views are absolutely stunning. It really feels like you are away from it all. Their are a couple of villages nearby for meals (we ate at the Fife Arms). We loved seeing sheep, cows, pheasants, bunnies, quail outside the property. I wouldn't hesitate to return but I would try to book a different room. The Cairngorms area was unforgettable.
Room: the "Family Room" in the attic was a bit disappointing. While we appreciated having a small connecting room for our luggage, the bathroom was impossibly small. My husband couldn't stand up in the shower and it was hard to even turn around in the space. Understandably, this is a very old manor house that has been retro-fitted for lodging, but just be aware that the family room is pretty tight. This room is also on the third floor up a very small staircase, so pack light!
Main Area: they had lovely fires burning in the common areas when we arrived. One of our favorite things to do when we travel is enjoy wine while reviewing our day, photos from the day, etc. We were told we could not sit in the main lounge area with our own wine, which was a disappointment (the hotel wanted us to buy the wine from the bar). I suppose this does make sense, but we were disappointed as the room was quite cozy and we would have enjoyed spending time in it.
