The Stables

Everything was wonderful.

Everything. Location, host, cottage and all needs met. Hot tub a wonderful bonus.

Self catering, and location was fine, unfortunately the local pub wasn’t serving any food on the days we were there but we found another lovely pub , but needed to drive there. Host was very friendly and helpful and location was great for walking our dogs. Hot tub was very good too. Accommodation was clean and tidy and tea,coffee,milk etc was there for us to use which was a nice touch.

The only down side was that the accommodation was smaller than we thought and with 2 dogs ,seemed a bit cramped.

Perfect location for visiting attractions. Everything close to hand. Hot tub made me realise we needed to fill ours again and use it.

The Stables is a cosy, clean, and well-equipped cottage that feels like a real home-from-home. It had everything we needed for a comfortable stay, and the host (Colin) was friendly and welcoming. The location is excellent, perfect for exploring the Forest of Dean or making easy trips into Wales. There’s a well-stocked Co-op nearby for essentials, and a local coffee shop serving a breakfast that’s genuinely to die for. It’s also a great spot if you’re travelling with a dog.

The main disappointment was the hot tub. We were expecting a private one when we booked it, there was also a non functioning one in our garden. Instead we had to share a communal hot tub around the other side of the property along with a larger family who had hired the larger stable block, which took away from the experience. The mattress was also quite uncomfortable, which unfortunately impacted the quality of our sleep during the stay.
