Johanna River Farm & Cottages

The kids loved the friendly dogs and the experience of picking the eggs from the henhouse. My husband liked building the fire, I guess it’s a primal thing. With Helen’s keen eye and advice, we spotted wild kangaroos and koalas and that was truly special. The laughing kookaburra bird calls and the sounds of the wind whistling through the trees were so restful. Getting to see a night sky full of stars was magical. There are multiple fruit trees on the farm and I wish we had been able to try them. (It’s winter now) They include an apple, pear, avocado, lemon and lime trees. The kids did pick up some walnuts and that was cool. The herb garden was very cool and even my son ate parsley and celery. The animals were friendly except for the dark goat. I liked Helen’s description of him as a bully but a scaredy cat at heart. That’s a good life lesson there. There were gum boots for loan during the stay so everyone could traipse through the mud with no worries.

I think they need to prune the trees in front of the accommodation a little more. The views will be even better.

Beautiful property, our kids loved feeding the animals and the location is stunning! The cottage was well equipped with the essentials and little extras making our stay comfortable and memorable.
