Quinta Das Faias

Lovely quiet setting that suited us fine in private gardens amongst other similar properties. Also, a very kind and friendly host. The property was clean and tidy and contained all of the things you need for a pleasant stay if either eating out or self-catering. We also had a superb meal in a local restaurant within 10 minutes walk of the property. We did a local Levada walk on our first day and stopped for tea and cakes at a well known tea-room at the end of the walk. We also liked the fact that it was located on the edge of the slightly cooler mountain range. If staying we recommend the hiring of a car.

A wee bit more living space would have been better for 4 adults including a slightly larger kitchen area but that is just a personal choice as we prefer to cook our own meals when we can due to matters such a one person being gluten free and another being vegetarian. Overall the accommodation was good. There is no air conditioning so you need to follow the way of hotter climates, i.e. let cool air in at night and close the shutters and windows before it gets warm to keep the house cool through the day. There are de-humidifiers though.

The location with the surrounding garden is beautiful and invites to relax and slow down.

It smells a bit wet, but there are air driers to deal with that. We had no need to use them though.

Beautiful garden in front of bedroom. For best experience best to leave both doors to the bedroom open over night. The viewing point with the ocean view was perfect for morning coffee. To watch the clouds over Atlantic from the height of 700 meters msl and sitting in the lush garden was amazing.

This cottage was a beautiful place on private property and walk distance to a small shopping centre.

I would say that there was anything that I didn't like about this property it meant all our expectations
