Spacious accommodation and ideal short stay

Spacious room with a very comfy bed and good facilities in the bedroom and en suite. Room comes with plenty of information about your stay. Staff very friendly and couldn't do enough for you. The location was well positioned if travelling by car. Plenty of car parking and a very nice restaurant bar with great food and drink on site.

Windows were single glazing which was part of the building heritage but meant you could hear the traffic from the nearby road throughout the evening.

Ideal location for my following days work. Good sized rooms and ample parking - great food and good selection to choose - great value as well. Good sized breakfast.

Only quibble with this inn is the entrance - a bit of run the gauntlet on a busy bend - other than that fantastic.

Delightful Boxing Day Stay

An extremely warm welcome by excellent staff, who despite being so hectic couldn’t do enough for me. My room was well equipped, stocked and really cosy and comfortable. Obviously the house keeper works hard and takes pride in her role. Lovely touch of mince pies and Christmas cake left in room. Really enjoyed a great stay, good nights sleep in a comfortable bed. Breakfast was ample, varied and delicious! Excellent value, keep up the excellent work, I’ll definitely recommend and return. Thank you

The family room was very large and had good facilities. The food was well cooked and presented.

The room and bathroom wasn't very clean. Not very well vacuumed, dusty surfaces and dirty sink with toothpaste on tap. Breakfast service was exceptionally slow (20 mins wait to get a drink and only then we're food orders taken, and then another 30 plus minutes wait to receive any food), even though we were told the breakfast would be quick as we'd explained we were in a rush.

A great value, comfortable, relaxing stay in a lovely but convenient location away from the city.

I felt extremely welcome. I was staying for two nights and as I was on my own they made me very comfortable in a very busy restaurant. The service is fantastic. The food is delicious and when we had lunch with my family with three grandchildren, there is a very lovely indoor child play area with lots of books and games. As it is near Christmas, there is a wonderful garden centre around the corner, undercover which is like a magical winter wonderland. There are bus stops outside the pub with services in to Derby. I used a taxi and my son picked me up. It was a lovely stay and will go back with my husband next time. The pub has an individual feel, not like the usual chains, where there is self service and windows you can't open in the bedrooms. Furnishings in the bedroom were tasteful. Thanks very much for a good nights sleep.

Great meeting up place

The room was fantastic great design and very comfortable. Staff were very helpful in showing us our rooms, how the door key coded worked and explaining breakfast times, etc. Extra milk and supplies were generously offered when more was required.

It was unfortunate that they couldn't fit us in for lunch as we were meeting up with friends so ended up having dinner instead. Thought the breakfast was buffet style but it was too be ordered and everything is cooked to order. As the building is quiet old its understandable that the windows dont keep much of the traffic noise out.

Location, room and staff were all superb. Sadly we didn't get to spend much time using the facilities, but the time we did spend was great.

Only a tiny thing which could be fixed quite quickly, the seat on our toilet was on what felt like a 45° angle. One slightly wrong move and you nearly capsized.

Amazing stay, fab room, great location, amazing breakfast and staff

Family room was amazing, ideal for mum, dad and 2 teenagers, proper single beds with quirky stable partitions. Dinner was lovely but breakfast definitely won! Our waitress, Claire, was friendly and attentive. We tried a variety of things off the menu and the chef Sam did a fabulous job, everything was superb! Nothing was too much trouble, we even borrowed an iron and ironing board.

Set dinner menu was a little confusing and when it came to settling the bill there was a lot of misunderstanding as the price didn't meet up with the deals stated.

Misleading pictures

Not alot

Booked the family room based on the pictures shown for this room type. The room we were given was nothing like the pictures. The room shown has 2 separate single beds for the kids, we got a trundle bed right next to the door which made it difficult getting in and out, and would've been dangerous if there was an emergency in the night. There was an unlocked cupboard in the bedroom with half used paint cans, a gas meter and various bits of rubbish, not exactly family friendly. The bath had stains in it. Some of the lights didn't work. The food was terrible.

The room was lovely and clean. The staff are professional and caring.

We did have an issue on the first night with our dinner. Wasn’t brilliant at all! All the staff were professional and took our comments on board. It was rectified by Tracy the next day and other amazing members of staff.

Good for an overnight stay

Very comfortable bed and generally well appointed room. Lovely pub garden setting. We ate in the restaurant, food was good and the service was excellent.

Not at all impressed with the cobwebs and spiders around the bathroom ceiling! There was a fixed shower head in a small shower so it would have been useful to provide a shower cap - but I will know for next time.

Good location close to Derby

Nicely decorated and set up room, comfortable bed, ample parking, good pub food at reasonable prices. Beer was pricey so we only had one.

I emailed a question to the property via booking.com (3 times)and got no response. Probably better to phone direct. We had to be in Derby for 7.30am to set up for an exhibition. Breakfast doesn't start till 8am. Not obvious when you book.
